What Do You Know About '80s Music?

My favorite hair bands were Def Leppard, Poison, Guns-N-Roses, Warrant, Motley Crue, and Cinderella. I loved the look first, then I would find that I enjoyed the music as well. With songs ranging from real rockers and "ticket getters" to power ballads, there was always something new and fun to listen to.

After seeing many of these bands in concert, and sometimes all together in one concert, I found that the excitement actually came from watching them seem to enjoy themselves and have fun on stage.

Through the many lineup changes the music sometimes suffered and the audiences grew smaller. There was always that one band member that caused havoc in the press and behind the scenes.

My favorite rocker of the '80s was Joan Jett. That tiny woman could belt out a tune and make you want to yell right along with her! I Love Rock-n-Roll is the #28 song of all time on the rock charts. Though she had many other hits, this one will always stand out. It was actually a cover of an Arrows song, but Joan made it hers. To me, any other version pales in comparison.

Even now, 30 years later, she is still rocking with her signature Gibson guitar and belting out the tunes! She was a hero to many young women just learning that they were equals.

She lead a whole new generation of women rockers and helped bridge the gap between rock and punk.
