The Decade For Scares
What follows below are a series of the best horror movie trailers from 1980-1982, unlike my Horror Movies Of The 1970's page that handles all the best movies in one page I'm going to need at least four to cover the 80's.
Don't just stumble upon this lens once, come back when new trailers will be added, as well as pictures, and stories regarding some of the movies of the era.

The Bogey Man - UK theatrical trailer
This is an extremely rare trailer for the old 1980 horror film "The Bogey Man" (AKA The Boogeyman) by Uli Lommel. This was one of many films that was banned in the UK as a video nasty for many years, but now available uncut. This version is essentially the same as the old US trailer which, to my knowledge, doesn't appear on any current DVD release, but with the UK title card "Bogey Man" in place of the US title "Boogeyman". This trailer was included on the old uncut Danish VHS tape of the film "The Burning" by Vipco in the early 90's (they used to distribute the BBFC approved cut versions in the UK but the uncut versions in Denmark). I'm not aware of this trailer appearing on any of Vipco's current crop of DVD's either (correct me if I'm wrong). Please visit my website at http://www.realmofhorror.co.uk

Death Ship
DEATH SHIP (1980) - Trailer
Unbeknown to the passengers on board a cruise ship in the Caribbean, a mysterious vessel is approaching on a collision course. Despite the attempts of the crew to avert disaster, the liner is lost with all hands down, except for seven survivors. They are saved when they clamber aboard a ghostly freighter where they discover an even worse fate. They are now prisoners on a former wartime vessel. As this ship speeds towards an unknown destination, they realise that something is intent on destroying each one of them in a grusesome and terrifying way... From an original story by Hollywood legend Jack Hill (COFFY, FOXY BROWN, SWITCHBLADE SISTERS) and starring none other than George Kennedy (COOL HAND LUKE, THE DIRTY DOZEN) and Richard Crenna (RAMBO: FIRST BLOOD).

A New Killer Is In Town!
Changing A Date Forever
There are few movies of the 80's that quite have the effect of Friday The 13th so many years later. Yes Halloween is undoubtedly the American slasher father (simply because Norman Bates in Psycho was not quite as savage), but Friday The 13th was the first to start a franchise of horror.Filming for the original Friday The 13th took place in 1979, and within a few short weeks of the movie being released in 1980, scripts were already being written for the sequel.
The killer in Friday The 13th was a man called Jason Voorhees, who as a child was allowed apparently to drown at Camp Crystal Lake, while the camp councillors made love. Over the next 8 years, there were 8 Friday The 13th movies until the movie took a sabbatical until the early 1990's.
The Friday The 13th movies were watched by millions, and the cast of the movies often went on to bigger and better things. Kevin Bacon, Crispin Glover, Corey Feldman, and Tony Goldwyn; all "cut their teeth" in the movies.
Since the 1980's Jason has returned three times and at the time of writing a remake of the original is on its way. Somewhat amazingly Jason was missing for most of the original movie, with another character taking on the role of the killer.
However you feel about Jason Voorhees you cannot deny he is the best known of horrors serial killers.

The Burning - theatrical trailer.
This is a seldom seen theatrical trailer for cult slasher film "The Burning" (thanks to Campslasher66). This film, which helped launched Mirimax studios, was banned for many years in the UK after being listed as a "video nasty". This is a personal favourite of mine, featuring special effects by Tom Savini. Please visit my website at http://www.realmofhorror.co.uk

The Gates Of Hell Have Opened
Lucio Fulci
The man that changed horror
He was familiar with the world of sex comedies, musicals, and costume dramas; but his familiarity with horror was vague. While Lucio Fulci had made a tense thriller with Don't Torture A Duckling, and a stab at horror with Woman In A Lizards Skin, Fulci was by no means pleased when a screen writer approached him to make the movie Zombi. Made at the same time as George Romero's Dawn Of The Dead, Romero's movie was first out of the gates and made an absolute packet at the box office. In Italy this was popular too, and the Zombi's producers were keen to use the similarity to market the movie. The result was that Zombi came out as Zombi 2 (Zombie Flesh Eaters and Zombie in other countries) as Dawn Of The Dead was released in Italy as Zombi. Made for a fraction of the cost of Dawn Of The Dead, Zombi obliterated Dawn Of The Dead at the box office, and became the most notorious Zombie movie of all time.Hard up Fulci was asked by movie producers to stay with the genre, and Fulci worked out the rest of his days as a horror movie maker, known in many circles as The Godfather Of Gore or the Maestro Of Horror the following four movies from Zombi; City Of The Living Dead, The Black Cat, The House By The Cemetery, and The Beyond were all mammoth successes.
While Fulci found it hard to keep up the output with only two real highpoints in his following movies, his impact on horror movies meant that people were no longer happy with Dracula and Frankenstein for scares, Fulci along with a few other talented directors changed the face of horror forever. Fulci's own input is felt in horror movies even today.
