My virtual tour of St. George

I consider St. George my home away from home. My family moved around a lot as I was growing up, but we frequently vacationed in St. George.

It is one of the fastest growing cities in the US with very affordable housing. There is a great deal of Mormon history including the oldest functioning Mormon Temple. There is also some amazing scenery...

Virgin River Gorge

Susan Julian 005.jpg (image)You don't even have to get off the freeway to enjoy the scenery of the Virgin River Gorge.

Just south of St. George on I-15 is the Gorge. You might have a hard time keeping your eyes on the road because of the surrounding scenery.

Zion's National Park

Angels Landing / angels-landing-r.jpgZions National Park is Utah's oldest and most visited national park. It is also one of the most accessible parks in the country since it's less than an hour away from St. George.

It also has some breathtaking scenery. My favorite hike is Angel's Landing, pictured here. At the top of this five mile hike is a 360 degree view of the entire park.

(As you can see this is a strenuous hike and not recommended for those afraid of heights.)

Mormon Temple

Image:St. George Temple.jpg - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia The St. George Temple is the most prominent building in historic downtown. It is the oldest operating Mormon temple--completed in 1877. It is also the only temple completed during Brigham Young's 30-year tenure as the president of the Mormon Church.
