The absolute gems of European Cinema

We all know that Europe has produced some great films. Indeed, one can argue that the smaller European countries can compete with hollywood rather well when it comes to quality. Here are 9 Fims, 9 countries. The best European film per country. For every film I have included a short introduction mentioning the plot and the awards it has won. For your convenience I have also included an IMDb Rating. Next to that, what is information about a film without some footage?. Not much. Thats why I have included a trailer to every film. I hope you enjoy the list. For the compelete lists per country you should visit europeanmovies.org. I have just put together the creme de la creme.

The 9 greatest films of Europe

In A Better World -European Movies & TV-SeriesOne of the ways to get familiar with European movies is to go by genre, by director, or by actors. I feel the best way to go is by country. Every country in Europe has its own special contribution to European Cinema. Indeed, the film industries of Europe are as different as the countries are. Most films definitely have a vibe around them that can give away what the country of origin is. Of course, also the different languages play a significant role, but there is also something else. Something you cannot quite figure out. But you can just feel it: this is a Danish Movie, or this is a Spanish movie.

I will not waste your time by describing my associations with the different countries. It is better if you can find out what you feel. And as soon as you find the feeling that feels good, you know what country you should look into in more detail.

I think there is no better way to do this than by presenting you the very best movies per country.

Europeanmovies.org has given top 10's of their favorite European Films per country. Also the best TV-Series for that matter.
