California's Fun and Affordable Family Attraction

For more than 50 years, Travel Town has been a favorite location for children's birthday parties, picnics, family reunions, and even the occasional wedding. The museum offers several unique party and meeting venues, from outdoor picnic areas to vintage railway car interiors. At Travel Town Railroad, the miniature train takes passengers twice around the museum, after which they can take their time exploring dozens of old time railroad locomotives and passenger cars. Travel Town is open every day of the year, except for Christmas Day, and is one of southern California's most fun and affordable family attractions.

The Travel Town Museum is a transport museum in Los Angeles, California. Located outdoors, in the expansive Griffith Park, the museum's primary collection focus is the history of railroad transportation in the western United States from 1880 to the 1930s, with a particular emphasis on Southern California and the Los Angeles area. The museum has numerous steam locomotives and other rolling stock on display, and some currently undergoing restoration.

Admission is Free!

Travel Town was dedicated on December 14, 1952. The museum is open daily, except Christmas Day, and admission is free.

We fulfill this mission by restoring, operating, and interpreting the historic railroad equipment at the Travel Town Museum.

What a great place Travel Town Museum sounds like - love that it is outside and free! There are so many, many youngsters growing up now who have never even been on a train, and thise would be a great place for them to learn about them.
