Remove a Virus

Let me list all the things a virus can do , some of these virus's are classified as rootkits (this just means they do worse stuff!

1. You may not realise it is a virus can be cleverer than you think .
2 It can change the links in your browser so you can't access any free or not free ant-virus .
3. Prevent you from finding real info on the virus.
4. Provide you with fake info on dodgy sites and links and more.
5 Doesn;t matter if you disable java,javascript,active X, downloading images in your browser.
6. I tested this on Firefox.Internet Explorer,Opera ,Deepnet and Chrome.
7. If your smart you will no that a domain address e.g www.squidoo.com is really an easy way of disguing an Intenet number called an IP address, even using a raw IP address won't help.
8. No finding your hosts file end editing it won't help .
9. These virus's can also remove your access to all your program files,run commands, control panel even logoff, which means even you get the virus you will have to rebuild all your menu's not hard but you need to undesrtand Windows operating systems.

3. Ideally access to another PC with Internet access even if your friend has one and is on the phone.
4. A method of transfering files if necessary.
5. A reasonable knowledge of windows oe someone who does.
6. A webmail account

Identify what the symptoms are and any wording that comes on th esceen or dodgy websites that you are shown.See if you notice any of the above symtoms for some of the nastier virus's. With this info you will be able to surf the net on your good PC to find answers that are reliable.

See if your current Anti Virus is working. See if you can get access to some of the free on line virus checkers. See if you have access to your webmail account you may need this for file transfer, eg sending Antivirus utilities from your clean PC to your infected one.

Now you are positioned to do battle, many of the Free tools are brilliant , some of the commercial tools are good even with their Free Versions and free trials although some do turn in to nag ware and you have to be able to remove them similar to a virus. Once you have researched your symtoms you will be able to indentify the best tool sfor the job, often this can make the job quicker and simpler. This is the process I follow , I can reccommend some tools but they change all the time and it depends on your Virius.
