Many professional Pest Control Experts had not seen Bed Bugs in their careers until very recently and most still don't know how to properly keep them out or get rid of them.
If these professionals don't know about bed bugs how can you and your family possibly know.
Blame will not help get rid of the bed bugs. You will need all the help and support you can get from your family as we take on these little creatures that have invaded your life..

Bed Bugs have been around for thousands and thousands of years. Evidence shows Bed Bugs surely feasted on the blood of early cave men when they first moved to caves. Bed Bugs probably had been feeding on Bats and other warm blooded animals before humans added a tasty addition to the list of hosts for the early Bed Bugs.
As we moved from place to place over decades and centuries we took our unwelcome guest with us. From cave to house, from country to country and from Continent to Continent. At first this was a slow process since men could not travel great distance until recently.

Bed Bugs Like or Require

They like clutter to hide in

They like clothes on the floor to hide in

They like dark crevices, cracks and holes to hide and nest in

They like warm environments (however can survive some cold)

They like sheets, blankets and comforters touching the floor to climb on

They like furniture with cloth touching the floor to climb on

They require warm blooded host to feed

How Do You Plan Ahead For Bed Bugs?

You do not want or need to be obsessed with planning; common sense works best.

1) You need to be aware of your environment, your home and office, common areas (if any) and places you spend time relaxing, setting or resting.

2) You need to be aware what is happening in your immediate surroundings. News reports of infestations in your State, in your town, especially in your building. Check with the landlord from time to time.

3) You need to be aware if anyone you have routine contact with has a Bed Bug Problem. (This one is not always easy; do the best you can.) Many times people will not share this information because they feel uneasy or afraid they will be judged as dirty or something just as ridiculous. Many times just discussing the topic of bed bugs as a major problem all over the country with your friend or coworkers will get this information and also help other people by sharing information.

4) You need to be aware when people come to visit. If you have visitors to your home try to keep everyone out of the sleeping areas. Do not let people place items on your beds.
I remember my parents having parties and their bed would be covered with every one's coats, wraps and purses. This was a long time ago.
Do not allow this at home any more. It could be disastrous.

5) You need to be aware if you visit someones house and you are not sure they are bed bug free. Without being obvious notice if you see small blood stains on any furniture, drapes or carpets.If you can try to sit in wooden or plastic chairs. Most of all See # 4; this now applies to you. Stay out of sleeping areas and do not put anything on the bed.

Here are the Guide Lines

1) Bed Bugs are not real fast; not like spiders and coach roaches. You can see them moving and catch them easily.

2)Do Not accept clothes or other items from someone you do not know. If you do See #5

3)Do Not accept furniture from someone you do not know.

4) Do Not pick up furniture left out by anyone for pick up and disposal.

5)If you buy clothes from a Thrift Shop/Flea Market or Garage Sale make sure to check the items closely before purchase for signs of Bed Bugs. Keep the items tightly wrapped in plastic until you can get them cleaned, Do Not place them with other laundry You may infest you other clothes and hamper.

5)If you place items out for pick up that have Bed Bugs mark the items "Contains Bed Bugs" with paint so no one will take them and spread these creatures to another home.

6) Very Important - Do Not let some one with bed bug problems move in with you until they can get rid of the bed bugs. You will end up with the problem when they leave. Help them clean their home but do not let them move in.

7)Do Not let anyone use your laundry equipment if they have bed bugs. You will have Bed Bugs when they are done.

8)If you are traveling; check your room before you ever bring in your luggage. Check the bed; pull back the covers and inspect the mattress for signs of bed bugs. Check the bathroom,dressers, picture frame; anywhere that has cracks and crevices for the bed bugs to hide.
9) If you are traveling as a precaution do not bring your luggage back into you home until you have placed all clothes in plastic bags until cleaned, vacuum the luggage inside and out; make sure you get all creases and seams.
10 Use your Head, watch what you bring into your home. It is easier to be vigilant then it is to get rid of Bed Bugs.
