She has worked through thick and thin and has not given up even after playing roles in movies that didn´t make it big. She has been labled wild and rebellious mainly do to the characters she portrays in her movies. Yet there is far more to this actress than most people see. She has proven to be able to play very feminine roles and still maintain her power. Every character she is asked to play gets bits and pieces of her personal life giving the characters depth. The work of Angelina Jolie has simply captivated the minds of many over the years.

Angelina´s childhood proved to be rough from the start. Angelina Jolie Voight was born June 4, 1975 in Los Angeles, California to actors Jon Voight and Mercheline Bertrand. Angelina is the youngest in the family next to her older brother, James. About a year after Angelina´s birth, in 1976 her parents divorced. Her mother packed up and moved Angelina and her brother to Palisades, New York. There Angelina enjoyed collecting snakes and lizards. She had a tomboyish style to her, yet was able to model with Finesse Modle Management. Although Angelina modled in Los Angeles, New York, and London this act was short lived. She soon went back to being a normal kid. Even though modeling did not work out, Angelina had a heart for acting and began to take up acting classes.

While Angelina attended both Beverly Hills and Moreno high school she was a target for bullying. Her peers teased her about her second-hand clothes, skinny figure, braces, and glasses. All this negativity added to her failed attempt at acting. Angelina collected knives and soon began to cut herself. When she was 14 she dropped her acting classes and replaced her dream with becoming an actress with becomeing a funeral director. She slipped into a period of rebellion, dying her hair purple and wearing all black. Her nights were spent moshing with her bofriend; life became a dark and morbid reality. When Angelina was 16 she managed to tone her dark side down a bit she returned to her acting classed at the Lee Strasberg Theater Institution in Los Angeles. She played in 5 of her brother´s student films. These films seemed to help Angelina move forward and release her into the world of acting.

Despite the early challenges Angelina had to overcome, she soon began her acting career. She starred in the low budget movie Cyborg 2 in 1995. Even though this film was not great, it was a base for Angelina to build on. In 1995 she played Kate "Acid Burn" Libby in her first Hollywood picture, Hackers. While filming she fell in love with her co-star actor, Jonny Lee Miller. At her wedding on March 28, 1996, Angelina wore leather trousers and a white shirt with the groom´s name written in her blood on the back. Their marriage only lasted a year. They divorced on February 3, 1999.

Even after Angelina found success, she felt she was missing something and soon plunged into depression. This time around Angelina considered suicide. She wrote her house keeper a note and decided she was going to swollow some pills and finish her life with her beloved knives. After a short walk, but before trying to kill herself Angelina discovered just how many people she would hurt and thought against her own execution. In a 2001 "Rolling Stones" interveiw Angelina stated, "You might as well live a lot, really hard and not give a shit, because you can always walk through that door. So I started living as if I could die any day." A while after her first suicidal thoughts, Angelina once again took an attempt to end her life. She hired a hit man who was a friend of a friend. The man made her think about what she was going to do for a month and once again backed out. Once Angelina decided that life was worth living. she continued to act. To date, she has made a total of 37 movies. Among these movies are Foxfire and Girl, Interrupted. Foxfire was filmed in 1996 and was based off of the 19500´s novel. The movie is abouf five teenage girls wjo beat up teacher after he sexually harasses them. Girl, Interrupted, co-starring Winona Ryder, is based off of Susanna Kaysen´s 18 month stay in a mental institution in the 60´s. Not only did Angelina work in movies, but also T.V. shows. During the year 1998 Angelina worked on the shwo called Gia. The show was about the life fashion model, Gia Marie Carangi, who died of AIDs at age twenty-six. Through all her years of acting it isn´t only Angelina´s movies that spark the media.

Angelina´s love life can be classified as anything but normal. Her first marriage was strang but compared to her marriage with Billy Bob Thorton, it was acceptable. Angelina and Billy met on the set of Pushing Tin and they later married on May 5, 2000. Their love for each other was a favorite media topic. They wore vials of each other´s blood around their necks. Thorton even took his blood tp paint a portrait of Angelina and also wrote a document vowing to never leave her. On the wall, "To the End of Time" was written above their bed in Angelina´s blood. Thorton´s vow was later broken when the two divorced on May 27, 2003. Their split was mainly due to the adoption of Maddox from Cambodia. Angelina´s next husband was found while filming Mr. and Mrs. Smith. When they were filming, Brad was happily married to actress Jennifer Aniston and was accused of cheating with Angelina. Aniston divorced Pitt and on January 11, 2006 Angelina told "People Magazine" she was pregnate with Brad´s baby and from there on they have been together. After Angelina found a way to contribute to the world and a husband to love, Angelina still felt a need to give.

On August 27, 2001 Angelina was named Goodwill Ambassador by United Nations High Commissioner fro Refugees (UNHCR). The UNHCR was established in 1951. They have helped over fifty million men, women, and children. Angelina found a way to help by going to other countries and working with refugees. She traveled to Namibia, Thialand, Ecuador, Tanzania, Sri Lanka, Kosovo, and Igushetia in 2002 and 2003. Angelina has even adopted from some of the countries she has worked in. Maddox was her first son from Cambodia. He was adopted on March 10. 2002. His full name is Maddox Chiven Jolie-Pitt and is Celtic for "beneficial". He was bored August 5, 2001 and his original name was Rath Vibol. He is commonly known for his Mohawk hairstyle. Shiloh was Angelina´s second child. Even though she wasn´t adopted she was born in Swakopmund, Namibia at Cottage Medi-Clinic Hospital. Her full name is Shiloh Nouvel Jolie-Pitt. Angelina´s third child, Zahara, was adopted July 6, 2005 from Ethiopia. She was born January 8, 2005 and her full name is Zahara Marley Jolie-Pitt. Her middle name "Marley" was from Bob Marley. She was hospitalized once she was in the U.S. for dehydration and malnutrition. The latest addition to the Jolie-Pitt family is Pax. He was adopted March 15, 2007 from Vietnam. His full name is Pax Thein Jolie. He was originaly named

Pham Quang Sung. He was born November 29, 2003 and at birth he was abandon at the hospital. Now that Angelina has a family she says she vows not to end her life, but be there for her children and live life to the fullest.

Angelina Jolie is a very interesting person and there for has many interesting facts about her. Many people don´t know that Angelina uses her middle name for her last name because she dropped her original last name. This was done after Angelina and her father had a fight. Jolie´s father hasn´t even met his gradchildren, but he stil talks with is daughter. Angelina Jolie has a total of 12 tattoos. They include a Tennessee William´s quote, "A prayer for the wild at heart, kept in cages," and Arabic phrase "Strength of Will," Latin proverb "What nourishes me also destroyes me." and many others.
Some have even been removed. Angelina has not stated religion and has not said she believes in God. She teaches her soon Maddox Buddhism. Jolie has admitted to being bisexual. She said she fell in love with her Foxfire co-star Jenny Shimizu. In a 2003 interview with Barbra Walters Jolie was asked if she was bisexual. She truthfully stated, "Of course, if I fell in love with a women tomorrow, would I feel that it is okay to want to kiss and touch her? Absolutely! Yes!" Angelina has also won a great amount of awards including an Oscar and Golden Globes. What Angelina will do next is always a mystery, but the stuff she does just makes her who she is.
