Why Traditional Article Marketing is Dead

Ranked #38,333 in Internet, #1,158,331 overall

Why you can't rely on traditional article marketing for SEO results anymore

To build organic traffic to your website, you need to optimize your pages so that the search engines can find them and list them easily. These days, however, search engines like Google, Yahoo, and MSN are changing their engines' algorithms, making it increasingly harder for your site to be indexed the way you want it to.

One of the ways to get your site ranking high in the search engine results page is building backlinks. Google, especially, puts heavy emphasis on this aspect. Basically, no backlinks = low search engine ranking.

To build backlinks, you need to try to get as many links back to your site from other websites (thus the name 'backlink'). For example, this can be done by submitting articles full of backlinks to article directories, and hope that they get published everywhere.

Article Marketing as you know it is dead.

The problem with this is that each article needs to be unique. Otherwise, you get to deal with all sorts of problems, including the dreaded 'duplicate content' penalty. This has the effect of destroying any backlinks you made through that article.

This is why article marketing as you know it is dead. Nobody has the time to re-write the same article hundreds of times to submit to different directories.

Read on to find out more.

Article Marketing 2.0

Keep up with Web 2.0

What exactly is Web 2.0? Well, you've most likely used it before even if you haven't heard of the name 'Web 2.0'. 'Web 2.0' is the label that covers social networking sites such as Twitter, YouTube, Facebook, Myspace, RSS, etc. Web 2.0 allows rapid sharing of information. With this comes the possibility of rapid changes to entire networks and the like. Why not keep up with the fast pace to promote your site?

Let's face it - article marketing is a real pain. Nobody wants to sit in front of the computer and rewrite the same article 15 times to submit to article directories. You'll never be able to get away from the feeling that the time could be better spent. Why is it necessary to spend hours and hours writing unique articles when you can just as easily write more content for your website? It makes no sense at all.

But, you still need backlinks, or your site isn't going to show up in the search results.

Just because traditional article marketing is no longer viable does not mean you should give up on article marketing completely. There's a new kind of article marketing coming into play - one that takes advantage of the inherent characteristics of Web 2.0.

Imagine being able to write a single, formatted article. Now, imagine that the article is automatically re-written in multiple formats (called ' article spinning') and then distributed to more than ten thousand (not a typo - over 10,000) relevant blogs, each one of them hungry for 'unique content'. With links to your website scattered in your 'spun' articles, you'll build up hundreds of backlinks in a matter of weeks.

I've just described how Article Marketing Automation works in a nutshell. You put an article in a 'spinnable' format (don't forget to add links to your pages!), and upload it to AMAutomation's articles database. The site/blog owners registered on AMAutomation's site are then presented with a 'spun' version of your article. This way, each site/blog receives a unique version of the article, complete with backlinks, and you never run into the 'duplicate content' penalty. That's all you have to do - no more fiddling once your article is available to site/blog owners.

Learn how you can promote your site while doing nothing!

If you need proof that this works, have a look at the screenshot I've provided (note: I've blurred out the article titles for privacy reasons). At the time of writing (June 3, 2009), the oldest article listed has been active for 18 days. Each article contains 3 links. Do the math - the articles were published 51 times total, which means I've generated 153 back links as of now (the numbers have gone up since). This averages out to 8.5 back links PER DAY. Just to remind you - all I did was write three 'spinnable' articles and had them published. I have done nothing more since, and the backlinks keep coming.

All you need to do is 'set it and forget it'. AMAutomation takes care of the rest - your article is distributed to over 10,000 relevant blogs while you're free to create more content for your site.

Build backlinks AND traffic with AMAutomation

No SEO campaign is complete without it.

At the risk of sounding like an advertisement, I will tell you that AMAutomation is the single most important tool for you to have if building backlinks is your goal (which it should be). Your articles are spun and distributed to relevant sites and blogs automatically after you upload them, which leaves you free to write more articles either for AMAutomation, or for additional content for your website.

On top of that, remember that your spun articles are distributed to real-life sites and blogs. This means that the traffic from those sites and blogs are shown links to YOUR site. Their traffic becomes your traffic, which can potentially mean more clicks on your affiliate links.

More backlinks and more traffic for your website, with a single 'spinnable' article that you upload. All you need to do is sit there and watch as your article's publish count shoots up in the following days.

Traditional article marketing is dead. Long live Article Marketing 2.0.
