The "Average Joe" Movie Review

This is a review of movies, not a critique. I tell you like it is, was it entertaining, worth going to see and spend the money on a late show ($10-$15 depending on location), save a little and go early ($5-$8) (yes there is a theater near me that is $5) or don't bother and wait till it releases on DVD. I will not compare it to the book if there is one. The books are always better if you've read them. (Thats usually why they made a movie of the book, DAH!!)

Iron Man 2

iron man 2What a great Movie.

Playboy Billionaire Tony Stark uses his, now well known, alter identity, Iron Man to help bring peace. The government wants his technology and so does his rival company Justin Hammer from Hammer Industries. With pressure mounting and new stronger enemies Stark must forge new alliances to combat them.

Iron Man 2 was not quite as good a the 1st because I feel Jon Favreau was trying to tie in a lot more elements into this movie and it made some of the movie a little slow. All in all, this movie is worth going to see at any time or price ($10-15). I would question the Imax experience price but some may just want that little extra umpf from the movie.

You will enjoy it and the little hints of future movies to come. Wait till all the credits are done there is a future movie hint.

Movie Review: "Kick Ass"

Rated R

kick assDave Lizewski (Aaron Johnson), an unassuming high school teenager and avid comic book fan decides that he wants to become a super hero. He has no powers or training except to want to be somebody and help others. Oh, yea and get the girl.

This is a great movie. It is very entertaining and funny and is a joy to watch. It is not your typical teenage flick especially the fight scenes, they are more graphic than you would think, it was a surprise to say the least.

It is definitely worth going to see even a late show. You will get your moneys worth. I feel the character that stole the show was Hit Girl/Mindy (Cloe Mortez). After you see it I think you will know what I mean.

I can not forget to mention Nicolas Cage as Big Daddy. He plays a vigilante super hero very well and helped make this movie more enjoyable.

Movie Review of "Clash of the Titans" 3D

Rated PG-13

clash of the titansThis is a remake. It is once again about the mortal son of Zeus, Perseus (Sam Worthington), who begins a journey to rescue the city of Argos from the infuriated Gods. He sets out to ultimately try to defeat the Kraken to save the city, the princess and his father Zeus from Hades.

This was a good movie but because of the post production 3D, the 3D version does not add any real element to the story. I would recommend to see this as a regular movie and not in 3D. The cost of 3D does not justify the means.

Once again this is worth seeing but not at a 3D price.

Cast (Cast overview)

Sam Worthington ... Perseus

Liam Neeson ... Zeus

Ralph Fiennes ... Hades

Jason Flemyng ... Calibos / Acrisius

Gemma Arterton ... Io

Alexa Davalos ... Andromeda

Tine Stapelfeldt ... Danae

Movie Review: "How To Train Your Dragon" -- IMAX 3D

Rated PG

how to train your dragonA scraulnny young viking, Hiccup, wants to be a dragon slayer but instead becomes an unlikely companion with a young Night Fury Dragon (the most feared). He learns more about the creatures then what was previously assumed and uses it to his advantage to gain popularity in his village.

This is a great movie, especially in IMAX 3D. Both adults and kids will enjoy your time in the theater.

The characters are fun and the main dragon, Toothless, is adorable and the humor roles right with the movie. The growing relationship between the dragon and Hiccup is put on screen without a hitch. The plot is similar as many animated movies, underdog wants to win over friends and family, screws up a little but does something heroic in the end. This animated movie can be added to the long line of good animated films in the past and adds more to Dreamworks resume.

Once again this is a movie worth going to see at any price but if you can afford the IMAX 3D experience then go see it, You Will NOT be disappointed.

Movie Review of "The Bounty Hunter"

Starring Jennifer Aniston and Gerard Butler -- Rated PG-13

the bounty hunterMilo (Gerard Butler), a bounty hunter gets the gift of bringing in his, bail jumping reporter, ex-wife, Nicole (Jennifer Aniston). The Two are always at each others throat and Nicole is trying to give Milo the slip while she is working on murder cover up story. They soon are both on the run for their lives while trying not to kill each other.

This is a cute romantic comedy. It was entertaining and as long as you don't try to read more out of it than a funny romance story gone wrong then you will enjoy this.

It is really only worth an early show ($5-6 bucks) unless you are looking for a date movie then it could be for a later show.

Movie Review: "Repo Men"

Starring Jude Law and Forest Whitaker Rated R

Repo MenSet in the future, this sci-fi movie is base around a repossessor that works for a company called "The Union" who make and finance state of the art organs for those who need them. But if they fail in the payments thats were Remy (Jude Law) and Jake (Forest Whitaker) take the stage and repossess the organ. The situation gets a little askew when a freak accident to Remy causes him to get an artificial heart. Struggling to make payments he must go on the run before his pumper gets repossessed.

It had a nice little twist at the end which I was torn about being mad or shocked

"Repo Men" is worth seeing but I feel it needs to be at a cheaper price time. Some scifi thrillers could get away with paying a little more and feel you got your moneys worth but in the long run it is a definate 5-6 dollar movie.

Movie Review : "She's Out of Your League"

Rated R

shes out of your leagueGood Movie!

This movie put a nice funny face on a usual story of average guy trying to get with a perfect 10. This movie was a funny. Even though some of the humor was college type, it worked. The ribbing that Kirk (Jay Baruchel) gets from his friends about how to work it or not work it with Molly( Alice Eve), the perfect 10, is something all men can relate. And the over the top dysfunctional family is embarrassment that many of us have experienced first hand on one side or the other.

If you are looking for a good laugh and a fun hour and a half go see this movie, it is worth it. This is not a sophisticated comedy, so any "raunchy" comments from the peanut galleries means that you don't get that this is just a fun, good movie.

Review of "Cop Out"

Staring Bruce Willis and Tracy Morgan

It is about NYPD cops one gets his rare baseball card stolen, which he was going to sell and pay for his daughters wedding. He and his partner now have to find the thief and get back the card from a baseball collecting gangster.

Cop Out is a comical buddy cop movie. Tracy Morgan kept you smilin' and I think Willis and Morgan had good chemistry in this movie. Sean William Scott added some laughs to help out Morgan and Willis. All being said, I would only recommend to go see it at an earlier/cheaper showtime. Its a fun movie but not really a 10-15 dollar movie.

Movie Review: Percy Jackson and the Olypians: The Lightning Thief

Percy Jackson and the OlympiansThis movie is absolutely worth going to see.

It was fun, had action from the start and put a nice modern day twist on the gods of olympus and the demi-gods (half human half god). Pierce Brosnans' role surprised me but he pulled it off. Then Uma Thurman as a beautiful Medusa threws a new twist for the monster Medusa is.

Once again worth the price of admission.

Its plot is basically that a teen, Percy Jackson, discovers that he is a decedent of the Greek God Posiden and is cast into an adventure to settle a possible battle between the Gods themselves.

If you wanted to know:

Director - Chris Columbus (not the explorer)
