About Leah J

Ranked #3,300 in Squidoo Community, #263,033 overall

Allow me to introduce myself...

I'm Leah J. I write and record contemporary Christian pop music independently, and I serve a church in Cape Coral, Florida called "A Life In Christ." I also have my own fine fashion business, partnering with Jewels By Park Lane. Read on to get to know me, and use the Guestbook at the bottom: It will help me get to know you! Please drop a line and let me know you stopped by.

Me in a nutshell

(no pun intended)

Aaaaaw, ain't I cute? This is me. I'm Leah Jaclyn. I'm named after Leah in Genesis and Jaclyn Smith from Charlie's Angels :)

I was born in Johnstown, PA in April of 1978 and grew up around Indiana, PA and Ashland, OH. I attended college in Searcy, AR and grad school in Ashland and also in Richmond, IN. Since 2004, I've lived in southwest Florida as a minister in the Church of the Brethren.

I have traveled throughout the United States (32 states so far), southern Canada, eastern Australia (Queensland and New South Wales), Wellington and the entire South Island of New Zealand (I plan to retire on a house boat in Picton some day), Scotland, and La Republica Dominicana. Norway and Costa Rica are on my current to-go list.

I sing as well as play piano and flute, but I grew up playing a variety of instruments: violin, cello, oboe, concert-band snare drum, trumpet, organ and guitar. I love jazz, classical, ambient, alt-rock, speedwood, acoustic singer/songwriter, indie/garage rock, and big band. My dad sings and plays guitar. My mom sings and plays clarinet. My brother is a stellar jazz sax/clarinet/flute player. I studied Hymnology and Spiritual Formation in Seminary and Ethnomusicology and Piano Performance in college.

The thing I love most about Squidoo is the vast amount of information you can retrieve from a single page on an unlimited number of subjects. As someone who enjoys learning and finding useful things to make my life better, I find Squidoo to be a tremendous resource. If you're interested in knowing a bit more about me, just keep reading!

Two of my albums on Amazon

I recorded my first album, "Dedication," with a friend from Seminary named Scott Ailes, then I produced his solo debut CD, "Made for More." Check them out! The hard copies are out of print, but the digital downloads are still available.

Top Five Pet Peeves

  1. Drivers who drive in the left lane but 3 miles per hour under the legal speed limit.
  2. People who are obviously blessed and having a good day, but complaining anyway.
  3. Christian brothers and sisters who say they'll be somewhere or do something, then show up late or not at all.
  4. Extreme liberals/progressives and extreme conservatives (political or religious).
  5. When people dragging carry-on luggage behind them just mosey through the airport while I have a plane to catch. Get out of the way!!!
