While Melissa has had a career that spanned hit, after hit, after hit, one defining moment for many people was when she walked out on stage to perform after losing her hair to chemo. Rather than sit back and say no, or cover her loss of hair up, she brazenly stepped forward to say, I'm a woman going through cancer, but that's not all I am. I'm an incredible singer and talent, and I'm going to perform for you. At that very moment, she was a hero for so many women suffering their own change in their life and body. Every woman who watched that I'm sure was in awe going...She is beautiful, and strong, and when I grow up, I want to stand up with courage like that. It was truly beautiful.
