But more than just a monitor for your desktop or laptop PC, the AL2216Wbd is also an excellent choice for gamers with its blazing fast 5ms (millisecond) response time. It also offers a high level of brightness with a 300 cd/m2 rating and a 700:1 contrast ratio. Other features include a 1680 x 1050-pixel resolution, dual DVI and VGA inputs, VESA compatibility for wall mounting, and user friendly controls on the front.

The monitor's 5ms response time is essential for hard-core gamers, and it's also great for watching high-intensity action movies with fast movement. It offers a high level of brightness with a 300 cd/m2 (candela per square meter) rating and a 700:1 contrast ratio. (The higher the contrast ratio, the greater a monitor's ability to display subtle color details and not get washed out by ambient room light.) The screen also has a 170-degree horizontal and 160-degree vertical viewing angle.

The AL2216Wbd has a 22-inch screen (measured diagonally) that is framed by a thin, black bezel. The screen housing measures 20.2 inches wide by 16 inches tall. It sits upon a flat stand that measures 7.8 inches deep. Get just the right view with forward and backward tilting. " A 22" widescreen LCD monitor in the $300 - $350 range. Unbelieveable - you might skeptically think. Think again - this one is a great product at a great price. Mine was perfect right out of the box -no dead pixels, fast as lightning (5ms), took me more time to unpack the box then to set up the monitor. Takes almost no desk space at all - and comes with a 3 year warranty! This is most definitely one of the best deals I've found on anything anywhere. With a native resolution of 1680 x 1050, the picture, via a DVI connection is crystal clear and just plain beautiful!"

" I've been using a 12 inch laptop for school and it was fine for taking notes. When it came time to doing more intensive work, sitting behind the screen for 8-12 hours with documents overlapping was killing my eyes and driving me crazy. So I went out and picked up this monitor. It's like night and day. I can have two VERY large windows side by side for sifting through and combining information. Plus, I still have the laptop's screen as real estate.

There is a little bit of light leakage on the edges of the screen, but it's only slightly noticeable with a completely black background. My other gripe is that it cannot rotate, but when I have some time I'll see if there isn't an after-market solution I can utilize.

Altogether I'm very happy with the purchae.

" My last monitor, which was a clunker CRT and weighed a ton, began acting 'funny' so I had to toss that bad fellow - good riddance. But this ACER is a 'smoker', no problems with it what-so-ever; it worked without a hitch, right out of the box. The 'Auto Config' works like a charm: I just sat back and let ACER do its thing. Even with my old lousy 32mb, 32-bit graphic card the images are excellent. I can't wait to start building my next rig with a more powerful graphic (CrossFireX) card, that's when I'll see this baby really show its stuff. "

" PROS: 2500:1 contrast ratio makes the black colors more accurate in places they're suppose to be. Decent monitor for gaming. (Thanks to the Acer eColor management feature I suppose) Bright crystal clear image, no ghosting, didn't come with ANY dead pixels. Set-up was a breeze with the driver CD, but you will be directed to download the update. You can configure settings with Acer eDisplay Management if you choose. Comes with DVI & VGA cords. CONS: A couple USB ports would have been nice, the ONLY inputs are DVI & VGA, The buttons are bunched too close together. Also they are confusing to navigate, the button labels are embedded into the monitor so it will be hard to see what you're pressing in dim lit rooms. A bit of backlight bleeding around the edges. These companys need to get their act together about this. $250+ is too much hard earned dough to spend on LCD's with this. I've heard of people simply solve this with black electrical tape placed in the right spots inside. "
