What Causes Acid Reflux?
Acid reflux is commonly caused by a "hiatal hernia" - damage to the pyloric valve separating the stomach from the esophagus. When the valve cannot close completely, then liquids and gasses from the stomach can rise into the throat and oral cavity, to remain there until once again flushed back down.Acid reflux is now recognized as a cause of sinus infections.
Acid reflux is a common problem, and is thought to occur in 4% to 10% of patients presenting to ENT clinics. A recent study of reflux and voice disorders suggests that up to 55% of patients with hoarseness (dysphonia) have laryngopharyngeal reflux.
Acid reflux is the burning sensation felt when the stomach acid backs up into the esophagus, or throat, and can sometimes be quite painful. It is a condition that affects more than 40% of the population .
Acid reflux is a painful condition that affects millions of people all over the world. It is caused when your stomachs digestive acids make their way up into the esophagus. This may cause heartburn and other symptoms.

The best meditation instruction I've come across,
The DVD is divided into three main sections:
Mindful Yoga: a 15-minute yoga program that focusses on relaxing the body with lots of seated poses, a little downward dog. Nothing strenuous.
The music is subtle and perfectly suited, the backdrops are lush and beautifully filmed.
All of this makes, for what I think, is a perfect meditation DVD, and yet here is the best part: Martiza's words, her narration, is so superbly written and resonates with such deep humanism and truth that I really am beginning to understand what mediation is, and what I am trying to achieve. Like I said, I'm an ornery student, but she's really that good.

Treatment For Acid Reflux
Treatment can vary from simply dietary and lifestyle changes to medication and surgery. The first place to begin treating heartburn is by avoiding foods and beverages that weaken the lower esophageal sphincter.Treatment may take six months to cure. Longer treatment is not recommended.
Treatment with omeprazole resulted in a significant decrease in the number of acid reflux episodes; however, nonacid reflux continued to occur and was responsible for some symptoms. Thus, acid suppression did not result in a decrease in total reflux episodes but rather in a shift from acid to nonacid reflux in the immediate postprandial period.

- People worldwide are suffering from one disease or another but mostly or most of them have NO idea why and what causes them to suffer from the disease. This is due to the simple principle or law of nature or whatever one may wish to call, of CAUSE AND EFFECT.
Acid reflux disease may cause upper body soreness or even discomfort through belly liquid burning up your own gullet.
Given my link just in case someone wants to know more.

- I liked all of your information, I even learned a couple of things. However, you mentioned using additional pillows. I've read a couple places that it could cause more problems because it actually puts pressure on the stomach.
Either way great lens. Thanks. Mike
