Acid Reflux And Fast Carbs
So if spicy food is not the food to avoid acid reflux then what is? The answer lies not so much in a specific food as in a specific food type. That food type is often referred to as 'Fast Carbs'.
You have probably heard of this but may not know what they are. Fast carbs are carbohydrates that can be digested quickly. This is due to the fact that the carbohydrates have been refined leaving probably little nutritional value other than calories.

Fast Carbs Continued...
If you suffer from acid reflux then food to avoid is food that contains sugar. Check those labels and note that the higher up the list it is, the more of it there is in that food. Avoid sugar as much as you can.
This can be pretty difficult as it turns out because it also means avoiding sugary, fizzy drinks which have huge amounts of sugar. As do many alcoholic drinks. Even most fruits contain sugars.
Fruit is considered healthy by most and that is certainly not disputed, but if you suffer from acid reflux it is worth considering laying off the fruit for a little while too. Healthy nutrition can be obtained from vegetables instead.

The Lesser Known Fast Carb
The challenge in finding a diet that helps to tackle acid reflux is not in finding foods that you can eat, as most meals are still essentially ok. The challenge is in finding pre-prepared shop-bought versions of those meals which do not have these fast carbs in.
The best way to deal with this is to buy the fresh ingredients yourself and cook from scratch, knowing exactly what ingredients you are putting into your meals. That's no hardship really. In fact, it can be fun learning how to cook again and enjoying your own creations. How easy is it to slip into having the same boring, bland meals day after day, week after week just to live with that searing acid reflux?
Take this as an opportunity to go out and experiment with new meals. Try and avoid sugar and white flour as much as you can, but don't be too harsh on yourself. The more you can avoid them, the quicker you are likely to get the acid reflux under control but every little bit helps. Whatever you can live with.
This is not THE cure for acid reflux but it is probably the best start you could make. With moderate care and attention you could easily feel much better in just a few weeks.
If you suffer from acid reflux, you have my sympathy. Hope this has helped.
