Once you've arrived in Maui, you will want to look into some activities for your group or family to participate in. Some activities will depend on the age of the children or members you're travelling with as well as knowing the interests of everyone in your group. One can enjoy the many beaches in Maui, several types of watersports, hiking and walks, dinner cruises and souvenir shopping as well as many other activities that I will list for you.

Snorkel Tours

In Maui, there are several companies that offer great snorkeling tours. Two fantastic destinations to explore are Molokini Crater and Turtle Town. Molokini Crater is a crescent-shaped islet and a protected cove where the ocean water is crystal clear. Here you can view over 200 different species of fish and ocean life. You may even see a baby shark! It is also known as one of the most coveted diving destinations in the world. Snorkeling tour boats come and go daily and these are well worth the money as one would not be exposed to such sealife snorkeling off shore. Most of the tours provide snacks and a beverage and the larger tour boats often include a lunch or a delicious barbeque when you return to shore.

It's nice to pack your own mask and snorkel when you go on a trip like this, just nicer not to use own that's been in many mouths. It's okay to rent the flippers but I would recommend bringing your own mask and snorkel if you plan to use them alot!

If riding the waves is something you've dreamed of doing, it is well worth taking a lesson. The thrill of getting up on that surfboard is a memory that will last a lifetime. The company Maui Waveriders is family-owned and operated. They provide instruction for all levels of surfing from beginners to advanced. They are dedicated to giving you a comfortable and of course, awesome experience on the water. When you're ready to venture out on your own they also rent surfboards, boogie boards and skim boards too! Maui Waveriders also has their own photographer who will take photos of you as you are out on the water riding the waves. For a cost you can purchase these photographs! All in all a great experience. Luau

There are many luau's that one can choose to go to in Maui. They generally range in price from about $60 - $120 per person. The luau includes an all you can eat buffet, usually an open bar with a wide variety of options. Enjoy a spectacular fire show, hawaiian dancers, ceremonies and take part in a hula dancing activity. Some luau's offer crafts and special activities for children. A great time for families.

Beaches

Maui offers spectacular beaches. On the south side of Maui you will find Kamole Beach 1, 11, 111. Popular with tourists. Great for sunbathing, swimming, body boarding and snorkeling. On the north side of Maui, Ho'okipa Beach is famous for surfing and windsurfing. Also Baldwin Beach is known as a great family beach. Popular for kayaking, surfing and body boarding. A popular excusion in Maui, is the whale watching tours. It is amazing to see these humpback whales thate make the trip to Hawaii's waters from Alaska every fall. The whales travel approximately 3,500 miles to reach the Hawaiian Islands. The tours offer all kinds of information and details about the whales and take you to the best touring spots for viewing them. Usually snacks or lunch is provided. A great experience. Road to Hana
This trip is on a narrow, curvy, single lane road. (Not for the faint of heart) This drive includes 617 turns and over 50 one lane bridges. It offers breathtaking views of waterfalls, tropical trails and many parks along the way. Hana is near the end along with several more waterfalls to enjoy! Taking this journey on a tour bus is recommended. (Some joke that taking this trip by car is a marriage breaker! :-) Check with your car rental place if you are planning to drive this road as many companies won't allow it!
Shopping
There are many unique places to shop in Maui. Whether you're looking for apparel, sundries or souvenirs there are many great little shops. Whaler's Village has over 90 shops and restaurants to see. Wailea known as the richer area of Maui, overs many wonderful stores and unique art and music galleries to view or purchase from. Just walking along the main street in Maui you will find many shops dedicated to the tourists looking for those collectibles and souvenirs to take home with them. Lahaina also has a mall of about 50 stores and restaurants and offers free hula shows at specific times.

Iao Needle
In Central Maui, is Iao Valley State Park. Hawaii's popular landmark, the 1200 foot Iao Needle. Breathtaking view of this historic site, great opportunity for photographers. Little trails to hike around and learn all about Hawaiian history! Iao Needle
