Bling My Lens

There are many sites around that will allow you to add bling to your lens, website or blog. So many things you can do.

For example, you can modify a photo of your own or a photo from Flickr. You can create an image from nothing at all or you can add glittery text or moving images to your website.

This lens will give a few ideas of the options available and a few websites you can use to add bling to your Lens, Website Or Blog.

Adding Bling Is Easy

With Online Photo Editors

Adding Bling to your lens or website can be done in many different ways. Some are more difficult and some are very easy.

Photoshop: The professional way to add bling. If you do not know how to use Photoshop, it can be difficult to learn. However, there are many tutorials around to help you get started. One Photoshop tutorial is shown below at the bottom of this lens. Go directly there if you know Photoshop and are comfortable with it.

Online Photo Editors: are usually MUCH easier to use than professional photo editors. They range from somewhat complex (Photoshop.com and Photobucket) to very easy (Blingee, Blibs). The more complex photo editors have more options. The simple online photo editors usually require no more than uploading a photo and clicking a button to add an effect.

Below are some examples of bling that I have added, either to a photo or simply by using a text generator. Near the examples shown, you will find links to all websites that I have used.

The Original Photo

All of the photos below will be based on this one.

I Gave My Gummi Bear A Face With PikiPimp

It was very easy to add bling to my Gummi Bear Photo with PikiPimp . I added hair, a tattoo and glasses with twitching eyes in just minutes.

I Set My Gummi Bear On Fire With Blibs

The Gummi Bear photo has a rather evil look and Blibs offers many ways of animating your photos. So now it looks like it is the Gummi Bear From Hell!

I Hit My Gummi Bear With Lightning

There are many kinds of animation you can do some are like turning your photo into a short movie clip. For example, you can make the photo zoom in to a close up or spin around in a cube. This example from blibs shows lightning striking my Gummi Bear

I used Blingee to create a dancing Obama on my Bear Photo.

Use HTML to Add Bling With a Banner

You Do Not Need A Photo To Bling Up Your Lens

You Can Add Bling With HTML

How? Just copy and paste this HTML code:

<b style="FONT-SIZE: 40px; FLOAT: left; COLOR: Purple; LINE-HEIGHT: 70px; PADDING-TOP: 2px; FONT-FAMILY: comic sans ms">You Can Add Bling With HTML</b>

Customize your banner by changing font, color, size:
* Font-Size (I used 40. Try any number you want)
* Color (I used purple. Try different colors like red, green, etc.)

Some of the Lenses Where I Have Added Bling

Judge For Yourself If Bling Has Helped Or Hurt These Pages

I am not advocating covering your page with bling. I do not like sites where various images are jumping everywhere. But here are two lenses I created where I think bling has helped. See for yourself:
Toe Sock Lens
This site about toe socks started with "Serious" Sock and ended with "Fun" socks. I used bling to mark the transition as you will see if you click the link.
Valentines Day Lens
Although this Valentine's Day lens is light, it is long. I added bling to keep the reader on the page.

I Think Bling Is Tacky

Jimmie says:

I have to agree with BDKZ. Bling is hard on the eyes. Keep it simple and tasteful.

bdkz says:

Sorry, I am not a fan of Bling. 99% of the time it is "too much" and ends up taking away from the quality of the lens.

I Think Bling is Fun

ana_nimoss says:

I love it!

roysumit says:

I haven't tried bling yet. But bling can be fun and enjoyable if used rightly and not overly done.

roysumit says:

I haven't tried bling yet. But I think it can add an effect to a lens and make it enjoyable if used properly and not overly done.

BeautySalon says:

I like bling created in good taste. If bling is used wisely and there is not too much of it, it can be entertaining and not annoying.
