Welcoming The Christ

Advent Celebrations are slowly deteriating maybe SANTA just got too big. Although Pagans celebrate Advent it is different than the Christian's Advent of 'Looking Forward' to the Birth or Return of Christ.

Advent is the celebration of the ARRIVAL of Jesus. You light a candle for each week you celebrate Advent and read Devotions or meditations and sing a worship song all while preparing our hearts and minds for the Return of Jesus. Our family does a Jesse Tree along with the candles to understand the Family History of Jesus and how we know he is the Messiah that God and the prophets were talking about.

There is so much rich History and Tradition in this celebration and the FOCUS of the month of December is on JESUS not on Santa or Shopping or Eating. All these things are not wrong in and of themselves but a bit daunting and 'loud' in comparison to the simple lighting of a candle.

First Sunday in Advent

Building the Advent Wreath

JosephOn the first Sunday of Advent you gather the greens and make a wreath. Place the candles (1 for each week and one center candle) around the wreath. After reading the devotions for the evening and praying and singing a song like 'O Come O Come Emmanuel' you light the candle and leave it lit until bedtime.

Our family also adds the first ornament to the Jesse Tree-which is a Stump - Which symbolizes the Root of Jesse, which is the heritage of Jesus comes from.

Second Sunday in Advent

Preparing for the Coming of Christ

MaryAdvent is centered on the Return of Christ. Although we are remembering his birth it is his Death and Resurrection and Final Triumphant return that we look forward to in our celebration. Advent devotions give us the history of Jesus' plan for our Salvation as well as reminds us of the Prophets who came before Christ who testified and foretold of his coming.

We light the first candle and then the second candle tonight as we read from the Bible and sing a worship song to our King.

Songs for Advent

coupleThis Sunday we will be lighting three candles. [first purple, second purple, and then the third pink] Read your devotions, sing a song of Joy, and leave it lit through the night.

For this Week we think and ponder on Joy. The Joy our saviour gave us via his birth, his ministry, his death, and his resurrection. If not for the previous we'd have nothing to be Joyful over as we would be sentenced to death due to our sins. However that is NOT the case. Christ is alive!

He is awaiting his return for his children-his church. This is the reason for the Advent celebration! We are awaiting, patiently for his final Triumphant return.

What are you Joyful for? Can you think of doing something Joyful for someone else?

Fourth Sunday in Advent

Final Sunday before Christmas

NativityFor this Sunday we will be Lighting our Fourth Candle. (light the first, second, third, and then the fourth) We are in the final days of preparation for the coming of the Christ. Our ancestors were awaiting his first arrival and we are awaiting his Second. Is your heart ready for the his Return?

Pray. Prepare your heart now. Remember what John the Baptist said "Prepare ye the way for the Christ. Repent, turn from your sins and prepare your hearts for the Kingdom of God".

Jesus arrived the first time as a babe, he grew up, ministered to the world, sacrificed his life so that God could impart our sins onto him and his righteousness onto us so that We can TODAY prepare the way for his Final Coming to Rule the World.

He did not leave us alone however. He sent the Holy Spirit to witness to our hearts, to live in us, to teach us, to mark us as HIS child.

Praise Him. Glory to God in Highest.

Repent: Turn away from your sins

Prepare: Grow in your relationship with Christ. (To know Jesus is to know God)

Read: Your Bible is the beginning of your journey.

Pray: Develop your relationship by spending time with God in meditation and prayer.

Merry Christmas

KingsChristmas day has arrived. We place Jesus in his manger, the shepherds have arrived, and the wisemen are working their way to give their gifts to the King.

Today we light all the candles including the Center White Candle which is a representation of Christ. [light the first, second, third, fourth, and finally the Center candle]

One day very soon the True LIGHT our Lord and Saviour will appear in the Clouds with a Shout-Trumpet Loud and clear. All will look up and know that he has returned for his church - his children. God says all people in every nation will bow down to Jesus and worship him.

Glory to God in the Highest!
