Affiliate Program Concerns

A couple of things that you need to consider when joining an affiliate program.

The number one thing that you have to remember when joining affiliate programs is that you have to shoot for high quality programs and affiliate products. There are a number of reasons why this is so very important and I'm going to try to tell you exactly why you need to join the right affiliate programs. In order to sell an affiliate program or affiliate products you will need to set up your own web site or blog. I can easily show you how to set up your own web site and it is very, very simple to set up a blog can begin selling products. But if you choose crummy affiliate programs that do not reflect the high quality that you want to have on your web site, then you will set yourself up to be considered a lousy web site. Once that damage has been done, you might as will start all over again. It's like going to a restaurant and having a really bad dinner. I can guarantee you that you will not be going back that restaurant for a very long time, even if people recommend it. So, that is the same problem you're going to be having with your web site if you sell lousy affiliate programs.

Another thing that you must consider when setting up your affiliate programs is your commission. If you sign up with somebody that's only paying something like 5% to 10% then you will not be making much money. The affiliate marketing game is a high numbers game. You need high numbers of people to come to your web site, and out of all the people to come to your web site, only 1% to 2% will purchase a product from your web site. So, you will need to find affiliate products that payout high commissions. They are very easy to find and many times the commission is anywhere from 25% to 50% of the product. Heck, I have even seen affiliate programs that payout almost 75%! The reason these affiliate program's payout so much is because they are trying to sell a large volume of the product. If you are the person selling the affiliate product and the product costs $100 and you can just profit only $25 from each sale then you would think this is not a very good deal. However, if you payout a large commission you will definitely get more people to push a product. What would you rather have 100 people trying to sell a product that they are only going to be motivated to sell and they are only a make between $15 and $20 on every sale? Conversely, if you have a person making 75% of the commission, and going back to our original $100 example, if a person is going to make $75 off of every sale you are going to get a ton of people that want to push your affiliate product or program. If an affiliate program or product promoter is profiting $25 on each sale but he has 20 to 30,000 people promoting his product think about the amount of money he is going to be making. If he sells only 1000 affiliate products at a profit of $25 each that will be $25,000. Internet marketers that create their own products can make $200,000 in just one or two months of rolling out a new affiliate product! So, what I am trying to say is, try to pick an affiliate program that pays high commissions. If you just sell one product that runs for $50 and you make a $35 profit off of it you will be much happier than selling a $15 product and making only $3-$5 on it.

One other thing, that you want to do think about when you're setting up your affiliate program is matching the program to your web site. If your site is about fishing and you are selling information products about golfing, then you will not be very successful in the affiliate marketing game. I have seen horribly mismatched web sites all over the place. People will throw up a web site about cake decorating and then try to sell an information marketing course - affiliate product. Guess what? That will never work! You must, must, must remember to properly match your affiliate programs to your web site. If your site is about fishing then you should try to sell an information product or an affiliate product on how to catch fish! There are tons of affiliate products related to fishing from everything to electronic books on how to catch fish (by the way, some of these books on fishing sell for $50 and you can make $35 off of every sale) to fishing lures. So, don't try to mismatch your web site to your affiliate program because it just will not work. You have to think this process through and how a person like yourself would buy a product.
