10 Things to Consider on Your Africa Vacation

Africa is probably the most diverse continent on the planet. For an Africa Vacation I would suggest looking into safari adventures, which will take you to places that are so incredible that most people have only dreamed about. You will enjoy breathtaking scenery highlighted with mountainous backdrops, glistening lakes, savanna grasslands, mist highlands, beautiful rivers, and abundant wildlife.

Take time to prepare for your Safari Vacation:
1. Take your own pair of binoculars
2. Have a dependable digital camera with plenty of memory
3. Wear long sleeves and long pants to keep mosquitoes from biting and to protect from severe sunburn
4. Pack several bottles of sunscreen for exposed areas of your skin
5. Have a mini-flashlight and mini-umbrella
just in case
6. Have a first-aid kit because you never know what can happen
7. Protect your eyes with a good pair of shades
8. Check The Weather
9. Buy travel insurance
10. Have fun!

The Basics

The most suggested parts of Africa to enjoy safari include East, Central and Southern Africa.

When booking a safari and Africa Vacation in general, expect to see many of the savanna animals: elephant, giraffe, antelope, water buffalo, monkeys and many unique birds.
Other Africa safari wonders will include seeing the big cats like lions and cheetahs. If the timing is right, you might catch the glimpse of a leopard too. Other animals to see will include the hyenas and the little meerkats. You can also look for certain reptiles although those are not my favorite.

There is nothing like the thrill that you will experience while on safari and Africa vacation however you should know how physically demanding a safari is. Remember that it is one challenging endeavor. Make sure to see a doctor before booking the trip in order to make sure that you can handle it.

Watching a safari trip on the discovery channel is comfortable because of air conditioning, a comfortable lounge chair and the lack of spitting dust and biting flies. Once you are there, that's another story.

If you are going to visit East and Central Africa, long rains start early in April to early June. Short rains abound during late November to December.

Southern Africa has its rainy season from late November through mid-April for the safari areas. However, during that time, it will be summer in Southern Cape.
