Many famous characters were born from her great imagination supported with her wide knowledge, such as Hercule Poirot and Miss Marple. However, only few people knew that she also wrote roman under the name of Mary Westmacott. Besides, she also achieved Dame Commander of The British Empire.
Agatha Christie was born in 15 September 1890. She was born in rich and prosperous family with the name Agatha Miller. She was much closed with her mother and spent her time by telling story in her big and wide house. When she was growing adult, she met her fist husband Colonel Archibald Christie, a pilot of Royal Flying Corps. However, this couple divorced in 1928 although they had had a daughter named Rosalind Hicks.
In December 1926 he was disappeared from the public but finally found in Harrogate hotel. She said that she was having amnesia after her mother passed away. Later, she met her second husband, Max Mallowan, an archeologist and followed him to the Middle East. This Journey influenced her to use this place as the setting of place in some of her works. Besides, her job as a pharmacist in the era of World War II also really helped her in the process of writing her mystery novels. Most of her works were including murder cases with poison.
Agatha Christie also used pen name of Mary Westmacott in writing several roman such as Unfinished Portrait Novel, The Rose and the Yew Tree, and The Burden. However, she was best known as the most popular mystery novels author in the world. Her works had been sold for more than billion exemplars in English and other billion exemplars in various languages. In France, her novels were sold up to 45 millions exemplars (definitely they had been translated in French) up to 2003. In 1973, she had stroke and stop writing novels and passed away in 12 January 1976.
