The original Houndstooth was a pattern that consisted of small, broken checks. It had several different names including dogstooth, guncheck and four in four check. Usually 2 colors are used in the pattern, a light and dark color.Most people say that it originated with the Scottish people. It's been a classic throughout history and was very popular in the 1930's and 1970's. Today, though, it's having a come back.

Wow...........One Giant Houndstooth Hat!
This is one giant houndstooth hat!It took a 150-foot crane to get it in place in the north end zone of Bryant Denny Stadium. This giant hat weighs 550 pounds, and will be located right above the concession stand. A Conneticutt company made the hat for the stadium.
This is so cool......it's going to be at just the right angle so that the fans can see the whole hat, top included!
