Peer pressure, lack of parent support, anxiety, confusion, and depression are just some of the factors that push a teenager into alcoholism. Other contributing factors like the media and celebrities that the teenagers look up to, can also be partly blamed for early alcohol addiction. Some teens when scolded by their parents regarding with their alcohol abuse, will just simple say that adults are doing it, so why can't we? Indeed it is hard to impart to them the dangers of alcohol but with constant communication of parent and child, then there is always hope in changing the bad habits.

Recent scientific studies of alcohol addiction show that teenagers who start drinking at the above mentioned ages, are most likely to catch an early onset of psychological problems. This is due to the fact that the teenager's brain is under the process of development, and early addiction to alcohol can affect their memory, cognitive thinking skills, and social interaction to other people. Also, teenagers with drinking problems are seen to have behavioral issues showing aggressiveness, and impulsiveness towards others. Over the years, addiction among teenagers is linked into various accidents involving car crashes, driving under the influence of alcohol, early pregnancy, and unintentional injuries leading to suicide and the worst is death.
