Her voice in the media, her place in the world

www.alivemagazine.org

Our mission at Alive is to create opportunities for young women to discover their voice and realize their full potential. At Alive, we cultivate strong communities of men and women dedicated to reforming not just the media, but also the culture that surrounds young women.

A quick glance at some of the things we do...

We...
-Provide a high-level internship program for young women - they produce the magazine (we were just named one of the fifty best places to intern in the newly released book Intern Insider!)
-Are working to build an interactive website for women over 25
-Are a place where men and women can let their voices be heard
-Are a great way to boost a resume (be published!)

Countless words are said everyday. Letters are scrunched together to form a word, an arbitrary symbol created to represent an idea. Thousands of ideas float around in the world. Some ideas are positive, some are negative, some are gentle, some are abrasive, some are original and some are stale. This issue focuses on Alive Magazine's goal to give a voice to young women. With fresh concepts and beautiful images and genuine relationships young women hold the power to change media forever.

July Bounded Art Gallery!

FOOD ME

"One cannot think well, love well, sleep well, if one has not dined well." -Virginia Woolf

As Luciano Pavarotti so aptly put it, "one of the very nicest things about life is the way we must regularly stop whatever it is we are doing and devote our attention to eating." Life is hectic, life is fast-paced and life is often changing, but one thing will always remain constant amidst all the chaos: food. Whether you love to eat, love to cook, or just appreciate a good meal, we'd love to have your photos! So get out that recipe book and camera, forget about the heat for a while, and take a little time off to "dine well."

As long as it doesn't denigrate another person and follows the theme of food, we'll put your pictures up in an album on our Facebook fanpage! Just send your picture to media@alivemagazine.org including your name and the reason why you chose the picture, then write "Bounded Art" in the subject line. Let's see what you've got cookin'!

Silver Lining: I Am Alive's unfeeling world
As I began my time with Ubisoft's downloadable title I Am Alive, the most striking aspect of the game's art style was the high-contrast, almost black and white way it depicted the destroyed city it takes place in. The world feels dead, as it should.
Depp keeps legacy alive
A brilliant recent cover story of a popular men's magazine painted that picture clearly. Soul music innovator D'Angelo, finally back in the spotlight after a dozen years, told the magazine about his ?relationship? with the legendary Marvin Gaye.
Zack may not be the scariest thing in new Dead or Alive 5 footage
Famitsu magazine has already confirmed the return of longtime Dead or Alive participants Lei Fang and Zack for DoA5, and now the official screens and video are available. Check out how these two very different brawlers made the jump into the upcoming ...
Former SEAL sniper talks movie, military service in Augusta
His friends haven't let up about the fact that Cooper was voted People Magazine's Sexiest Man Alive in 2011. ?I told (Cooper) we'd first have to drag him face down in gravel,? said Kyle, whose 150 confirmed kills during his four tours in Iraq as a Navy ...
