History Of Beading-Beading History

Beadwork is the art or craft of attaching beads to one another or to cloth using a needle and thread. Most beadwork takes the form of jewelry or other personal adornment, but beads are also used in wall hangings and sculpture.

Beadwork techniques are broadly divided into loom and off-loom weaving, stringing, bead embroidery, bead crochet, and bead knitting.

Most cultures have employed beads for personal adornment. Archaeological records show that people made and used beads as long as 5,000 years ago. Beads have also been used for religious purposes, as good luck talismans, and as curative agents.

Beading Ideas

Here are 5 Beading Ideas to help get you started.

1: Find a piece of fabric that has an interesting pattern on it. Pin a piece of polyester Batting to the back of the fabric. Now bead around the pattern, following the lines and just play.

2: Buy some stretchy beading elastic (Stretch Magic)and bead a bracelet for yourself. To start with, choose the colours and sizes of beads you want.
