Is it possible to be allergic to the cold?

Yes! Believe it or not there are people who actually have an allergy to the cold and cold weather. And no, I'm not talking about the people (like me) who hate the cold. Cold Urticaria is a real illness that can be serious.

People with Cold Urticaria break out in hives on the face, neck, or hands after exposure to cold. It can also cause a low blood pressure due to the massive release of histamine. It can also cause very severe reactions including fainting, shock or even death.

i'm the same way and i'm only 15. though mine is probably very mild, it only occurs on my feet and ankles, and after i soak it in hot water for about 5 min, i put some calamine lotion on it, and after about 20 minutes, it goes away. it actually just started last year, so at least i know what the name is

Wow! Great info. My wife just recently started showing signs of this. While it's not necessarily good to have this, at least it seems like we may have some answers.
