I resisted buying a Kindle for as long as I could. The new wi-fi only models with improved contrast and exceptional battery life were tempting all right, but this $25 off model pushed me over the edge. Can't wait till it gets here. It features sponsored screensavers and special offers from Amazon. There are tons of free public-domain books available and a kindle-format application for most computers and operating systems, too!

Current Deals @ Amazon.com

Amazon.com recently introduced RSS feeds of their latest sales and promotions, which we've resyndicated here. One technical glitch: Our feed reports an "error" when no promotions are available, which happens more than you might think. Generally, if one of the feeds is working, it's a good bet that they all are.

Seagate AMT Hybrid Notebook Drive

This Seagate 2.5' drive with Adaptive Memory Technology moves your frequently used Windoze files (boot up files, for instnnce) to non-volatile RAM . That's the hybrid part. If you use this drive as your system start-up drive, Windows will start faster each time you boot until it is fully optimized. Cool! Mac users will not see much benefit in this regard, since the Darwin BSD kernel doesn't have the typical Mickeysoft bloatware. Also be aware that the Shock resistant feature conflicts with the motion sensor installed as a theft deterrent on some Mac books. One or the other must be disabled.

Lawnmower Parts

The fuel line on my 20 -plus year old Toro lawnmower (Model 20622) disintegrated, so i had to do some searching. Googling the part numbers gave me the usual high-priced competitors, but after a lot of drilling down I came to MowtownUSA where I got a good price, including the shipping.
