News

31 MAY 2009 - American Girl's newest historical character Rebecca Rubin doll and books went on sale today at Amazon.com.

I'm reorganizing these pages a bit:

The list of American Girl Pages now has links to Amazon's American Girl Specialty Store. When Amazon's keyword search function doesn't really give you what you're looking for, these can be very helpful.

The "Meet the American Girls" page is meant to be the entry-point for our younger readers, while the "More American Girls" page is meant to showcase new materials like the Julie Series

If you are a Squidoo Lensmaster, you could help to make these more conspicuous by giving them a good "star" rating, adding them to your (Squidoo) favorites, or linking to them. If not, it's free and takes only a minute to sign up, and you could make a little money (although the return is such that that shouldn't be your first consideration.)

Thanks

Amazon has a new feature that makes it possible to list all the newest American Girl releases here updated automatically by Amazon.com and Squidoo. Once a week ought to be enough.

Amazon.com's American Girl Specialty Store also has a longer "What's New?" section.

This feed has been discontinued (for now) but the link still works.

Outsmart your second-grader!

There is a "teacher's edition" for each of the American Girl® historical characters boxed sets.

Teacher's Guide Sets

For some reason, American Girl quit publishing the Teacher's Guide series, which is why you won't find guides for the more recent characters. Obviously, they weren't as popular as the children's books, but you may be able to get the whole set here (subject to availability, of course.)

Latest Boxed Sets

Squidoo has modified its Amazon module to permit no more than five items. It's an articficial constraint I don't care for, but longer modules were grandfathered in as long as they remain unedited. At any rate, theat is why these newer books and mini-dolls are featured in their own modules.

American Girl Boxed Sets

There are other American Girl® boxed sets, but these are the main ones. Each of the historical characters has an introductory book "Meet so and so" and the boxed set of five of these is a good starting point, although it is out of print. The other sets are the "Six books about ..." mentioned in the Teacher's editions above.

Latest American Girl Mini Dolls

Squidoo has modified its Amazon module to permit no more than five items. It's an artificial constraint I don't care for, but longer modules were grandfathered in as long as they remain unedited. At any rate, that is why these newer mini-dolls and boxed sets are featured in their own modules.

By the way, the reason I don't feature the collectible 18-inch dolls as many lensmasters do, is that the ones Amazon carries are from third party resellers typically charging twice retail. You can get those directly from American Girl

New American Girl "Mini" Dolls

Will a little girl love a $13 "mini doll" she can actually play with as much as an aproximately $100 "collectible" doll that may spend a lot of time on a shelf? Probably.

These 6.5" mini-dolls are brand new, and despite Amazon's "not yet released" tags, they ARE out now.

I've never quite been sure what distinguishes a blog from a regular webpage. Timeliness seems to have something to do with it, but that doesn't seem to be a hard and fast rule.

Anyway, here are some of the things I've been working on lately...
