American Girl books, dolls and accessories hold a real fascination for the 7-12 set-- and moms can love them too! The whole premise behind American Girl is that there is a need for dolls that depict girls being girls, not adults with abnormally proportioned bodies, or tarted up brats!
The American Girl doll and book collections are not only wholesome and beautifully made, but they capture young girls' imaginations and teach them something about what all girls have in common-- friends and family, loyalty and bravery, heart and soul.

November 2007: Girl of the Year 2008 is announced on Oprah: Mia!September 2007: Julie and Ivy are here! Now who will be the Girl of the Year for 2008??
August 2007:
Julie's last name has been changed from McKenzie or MacKenzie to Albright! Amazon shows her books as bein published on September 1st.
May 2007: Coming in August: the next historical girl, Julie MacKenzie (1974)! Check out Curt Danhauser's Complete Guide to American Girl Doll Collecting for a picture of the doll, and the book covers! (He always has the good stuff first!)
This is the first historical girl to be added in five years, since Kaya was added in 2002. Julie will live in San Francisco and have an Asian best friend named Ivy, whose doll and book will be introduced at the same time. (Pre-order the books below!)
April 2007: Rumors: If girl has a movie (Kit!) a best friend doll and book will surely follow! Ruthie? Who knows?
April 2007: The Kit movie is definitely on! The first AG movie to be shown theatrically, it debuts on July 2, 2008. Kit will be played by will star Oscar nominee Abigal Breslin (Little Miss Sunshine). Read press release.
February 2007: The word is there are production problems and major delays in the making of the Kit movie. It was supposed to debut in theaters around Thanksgiving 2007, but now the buzz is it may go straight to DVD-- if it gets completed at all!
January 2007: She's here! The American Girl of the Year 2007-- Nicki Fleming! Check out Nicki and her accessories at the AG site!

Remember to read eBay listings very carefully, as there are a lot of items with "American Girl" in the title that are not official American Girl merchandise.
