Definition of Anarchy and Anarchist

Anarchy: The absence of government control. A theory that regards the absence of all direct or coercive government as a political ideal and that proposes the cooperative and voluntary association of individuals and groups as the principal mode of organized society.

Anarchist: One who resists control by the government. One that detests government control in any shape or form over any person's personal life, finances or choices

Freedom

True anarchists believe in freedom. They believe in the freedom to choose how to live their lives and make their own personal decisions without governmental (or any organization or group) interference. They believe in total individuality, personal responsibility and resent the government telling them how to think, live or believe. Anarchists just want to live their lives and allow others to live their own lives.

Most anarchists believe that we do not need a governmental run society to survive and live in peace, harmony and prosperity. In fact most anarchists believe the government is oppressive and is the problem in maintaining peace, living in harmony and the biggest obstacle to personal prosperity and freedom.

Chaos and Disorder

Contrary to a lot of people's beliefs, anarchy does not mean chaos or living in or creating a chaotic state or situations just for the sake of creating disorder or chaos. Real anarchists are not just a bunch of punk rock kids running around destroying everything and disrespecting everyone. Anarchists for the most part just want to be left alone to live their own lives. Anarchists believe in personal responsibility and will respect others opinions and property as they expect their own opinions and property be respected. However, the anarchist will stand up and defend themselves, their families, and friends and against those that threaten their personal freedom of choice and oppression caused by the government or other organizations and people.

Socialism, Communism and Fascism

There are some people out there that call themselves anarchists, but believe that the government needs to do more for people, pass more laws and/or raise taxes and/or control society and business. These people absolutely are not anarchists in the slightest bit. These are people that just simply disagree with whatever the current system is and just want to create waves in society. These people are absolute complete total hypocrites to call themselves anarchists. Anyone that believes the government should take a greater role in society and especially peoples personal lives cannot be an anarchist.

If you are a person that believes that the government should raise taxes to help others more, you are not an anarchist, you are a socialist. Socialism is when the government takes a greater role in redistributing wealth and creating a sense of false prosperity when all it does is create greater government control of society's economy rather than give people the freedom to succeed or fail.

This is not to say that anarchists are a heartless bunch against those who are not able to help themselves as much as some others. On the contrary, most anarchists are willing to freely help others in any way that they are able to. The biggest difference is that anarchists believe in freedom of choice to help not forced financial oppression to pseudo help people making them even more reliant on government.

If you are someone that believes that the government should pass more laws regulating people's actions and behaviors in the name of protecting you from yourself or that the government should pass more laws restricting the way people can or should think or believe, you too can call yourself a socialist. Part of socialism is not just the governmental control of people's finances, but also personal freedom of choice when it comes to things that do not have any affect or harm on others (simple example is seat belt laws). Societal socialists can also be the ones that want more government control over people's lives in order to justify their own beliefs. Anarchists believe in freedom. It does not mean that all anarchists are going to take risks, but believe in the right to take those risks if you choose to do so. True anarchists do not care what you believe or think and respect your thoughts and beliefs as long as you do not try to force them to accept or follow your beliefs or personal life styles.

If you believe that the government should control the use of any type of property or that the government should own people's or business's property, you are not an anarchist. You are a communist. Communism is similar to socialism but goes deeper as it allows the government to own and control property. Anarchists believe in freedom and that includes the freedom to own your property and use in the way that you see fit. Anarchists also respect and honors peoples freedom to do the same with their own property.

If you believe that the government should take a greater role in how businesses run or should own businesses, you are not an anarchist. You are a fascist. Fascism is when the government involves itself and controls businesses and/or ultimately owns most or all of a business. Fascism includes when the government makes laws and regulation that take away the freedom of choice of the business owner (for example banning bars or restaurants the freedom to choose if they allow smoking or a smoking area). Once again, let it be said, anarchists believe in freedom and personal choice and responsibility along with free enterprise without any type of government interference. If someone is dumb enough to run an unscrupulous business or mismanages a legitimate business and fails, bummer it's their own fault. If someone is smart enough to run a business that succeeds and prospers, then awesome for them.

If you believe in any type of socialism, communism, fascism or any combination of the three, you are not an anarchist nor do you believe in anarchy.

The Bottom Line

If you still do not get it, here is the bottom line...
Anarchists do not believe in government intervention into people's personal lives or finances. Anarchists do not believe in governmental influence, control or ownership of business. Anarchists believe the world would be a much better place without government because people would have a greater sense of respect and responsibility and be allowed to live their lives as they see fit and allows others the same courtesy.

Sorry, this is full of shit. Socialism doesn not mean "teh government has more controls over your lives!!1!", socialism in its non-Marxist definition describes a society in which the means of production are owned collectively by the community. Communism is indeed a type of socialism, but communism does not involve a "government" who steals and owns your "property". Communism is stateless (just like anarchism) and is against a social hierarchy (again, like anarchism). If you were a "traditional" anarchist like you say, you would be against the concept of property like the early anarchists were (and communists). You don't even know the definition of fascism either. You're confusing socialism and communism with Marxism-Leninism. Many anarchists are socialists and communists (at one point anarchists used to call themselves Communists with a lower case "c"). I'm an anarcho-communist. Read your anarchist history and theory, and for the love of god fix this horrible mess describing "anarchism".
