Do You Need to Learn Anatomy of the Human Body?

I had to learn Anatomy of Human Body in different classes through life. I was an Emergency Medical Technician years ago and learned it for that. I got my Skin Car Specialist license, and once again learned it for that. I also had to learn it again while taking classes in massage. Each class of course focused on different things, and what I retained from it was a lot of information!

One of the best things I did in the process was collect a lot of great anatomy books, and bookmark a ton of things over the years! I'm here to share some of the best sources for "Anatomy of Human Body" I've found along the way.

This is one of the projects I had to do while in Esthetic's School. It seemed like a chore at the time, but it was a FABULOUS way to learn all the muscles of the face and head!

Anatomy Doesn't Have to Be Overwhelming to Learn

Start small, and learn sections. Don't get overwhelmed. It's easier taking on one area, or one type of muscle or bone first. I'm going to list different sources, bookmarks I have, and tell you my favorites along the way.

Let's start with Frank Netter's Atlas of Human Anatomy. It is hands down, the best resource I've found. It's a little pricier than some of the other books you'll see, but it was the most helpful, and one I return to over and over again. I hesitated at first buying it, because it comes with a hefty price tag, but I can honestly say, it's THE BEST book that helped me along the way. You can look for it on Amazon, I'll list it below, or sometimes you can get a good deal on Ebay. Used copies work well too, so keep your eye out for them.

NOTE: There is a small version, I'd recommend the large one(Black cover). You can see how big it is in the picture above. Netter's "Atlas of the Human Body" is the large book all the way to the left.

Anatomy Flash Cards

It almost sounds like something you'd learn in elementary school right? Simple flash cards with repetition can really help you get those things in your mind. There were times I'd come home from school, and go there is NO WAY I'll ever learn all of this. Flash cards are what saved me every time!

There are multiple flash card sites, my personal favorite was The Amazing Flash Card Machine. It was so USER FRIENDLY, anyone can use it and create their own flash cards. I could go through and test myself quickly and easily, and save sets of flashcards. I could even give a separate sign-in and password to my classmates, and they could use the flashcards I was making too!

Here are some other sites that offer Anatomy Flash Cards and information.

Learn: Anatomy of Human Body

How do you learn? Do you just read to learn? Try different methods of learning to accelerate the experience. Draw out the skeleton, get an anatomy coloring book.

Get a partner, and find where the particular piece of anatomy would be on their body. If you're learning bones or muscles, feel them. Learn their shape and size. Reach up and touch your clavicle, or find your Masseter. Where's your Platysma? Find it on yourself or on a partner, and visualizing it on a person in front of you, may help you solidify the information!
