Andrew Luck - Highlights, Stats, Draft Stock, & More

Ranked #25,173 in Sports & Recreation, #601,699 overall

Andrew Luck: 6-4 | 235 lbs.

Andrew Luck was the top Quarterback prospect for the 2011 NFL Draft. After leading Stanford to back-to-back bowl games and improving the team's record from 8-4 in 2009 to a 11-1 record in 2010 and a likely top 3 finish in the AP polls, Andrew Luck is prepared to take the next step in his career. Coming out of Stanford, he is the highest rated Quarterback since Matt Ryan in 2008. Andrew has rare talents for the quarterback position. He is a true student of the game and puts in the time to learn defenses. He has shown this knowledge in college by already making pre-snap adjustments based on the defensive looks he sees (many NFL quarterbacks still do not know how to make proper adjustments pre-snap).

Along with his knowledge of the game, Andrew has above average arm strength and when one combines this with his 70.7 completion percentage, great feet, and a feel for the pocket, it is clear that he has the tools to be a great pocket passer. However, his talents do not stop there... he is also a terrific all around athlete and ran for over 800 yards (including his jaw-dropping 58 yard run vs CAL) in his two seasons at Stanford. With the legs, the arm, the mind, and the work ethic, Andrew Luck is primed to begin a successful career in the NFL when he declares for the draft.

Although Andrew Luck Is Returning to Stanford for his 4th year in school and his 3rd year of eligibility... he now becomes the top rated QB in the 2012 NFL Draft

Draft Positioning

where he could have been picked

Panthers1. Carolina Panthers:
Andrew Luck, QB, Stanford

If Andrew Luck declares for the draft he will be the 1st overall selection in the 2011 NFL draft... the only question is which team will be selecting. If Carolina falls in love with a defensive player and are trying to transition to another coaches scheme with new players they could feasibly trade down, get the player they covet, and retool their entire team with 10+ draft picks.

Broncos2. Denver Broncos:
Andrew Luck, QB, Stanford

They are in need of a Quarterback just like most of the worst teams in the league but like several teams in the NFL they are courting Jim Harbaugh. If indeed one of these teams gets Harbaugh they may make a run at obtaining the #1 selection from Carolina.

Cards5. Arizona Cardinals:
Andrew Luck, QB, Stanford

They are not courting Harbaugh but MAN they NEED a Quarterback. Although John Skelton performed well down the stretch.

49ers7. San Francisco 49ers:
Andrew Luck, QB, Stanford

See the Broncos description above... the 49ers are chasing after Harbaugh... he is their guy.

2011 Quarterback Rankings

Before he went back to school

The Quarterback position is a very important one in the NFL. The NFL is a "Quarterback Driven" League. A QB whom is safe with the football can take a team with a great defense to the playoffs... but a QB whom is cautious with the football on an average defense will probably win 6 games at most during the year.

Teams with great Quarterbacks are the playoff teams in the league on a consistent basis. Think Patriots, Colts, Brett Favre's teams, the 49ers of the 80's and 90's. Rookie Quarterbacks typically have a tough time in their first season... but recently Matt Ryan, Joe Flacco, Mark Sanchez and Ben Roethlisberger have had success in their first season.

How a QB will perform in their first season is based on millions of factors... the talent around them... the system... the defense etc. Here are the top Quarterbacks in the 2011 draft class
