About Andy Pearce

FREE Online Drum Lessons

Melbourne born and bred, I now reside in the Highlands of Scotland near Inverness.

I am a drummer, Latin-percussionist, songwriter and producer - I am currently working on a recording project with Spatial Unity (go have a listen) www.SpatialUnity.co.uk

My musical genre combines Electronica with natural percussion and other acoustic instruments. My musical influences evolved from the 90's where I worked as a resident DJ in various clubs. As a child I was classically trained as a pianist but during my teens I fell in love with drumming. Later, I discovered a passion for percussion in particular Brazilian and Afro-Cuban styles and now I use these influences heavily in my own creations.

Blah Blah Blah...are you still awake?

I have been called upon to record percussion on assorted projects-albums and have played in various concerts; one of my favourites was playing with Geno Washington the legendary blues artist at The Bella.

I hope you enjoy these lessons and tips, and please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.  I have also appended a list of my recommended study materials which I use my self and give to my students.

If percussion is more your thing, then why not visit my other lens that contains percussion lessons www.squidoo.com/percussion-lessons

Recommended Drum Books

I use these books myself and with my students

I use the following books extensively in my own study and also with my percussion and drum students.
I particularly chose the Absolute Beginners Drums series by Dave Zubraski, as these are the best all round drum methods that I have found. They are concise, easy to follow and they include an excellent quality CD that contains demonstration tracks of all the rhythms and also backing tracks to play along to. The notation is great, as some drum methods vary.
