Why I love the Andy Griffith Show

If there was one place I have wanted to live since I was a kid it was Mayberry USA. There was just something you could not explain that drew you to the warm and friendly feeling that Andy, Barney and all of the rest gave viewers each week. Genuine friendship, through thick and thin, and a devotion that has gone by the wayside in today's standards.

If nothing else, I hope this lens brings a smile to your face and happy memories of this classic television program!

Good Ole' Barney Fife

I have to be honest, Barney is my favorite....

Okay, we all know the show is titled the Andy Griffith Show, but Barney's (aka: Don Knotts') humor was the icing on the cake. Andy was the brains, Barney was the laughs.

WHO IS BARNEY FIFE?
Bernard (P., Milton, or Oliver - he is heard to have 3 different middle names in the show) Fife.
Best friend to Andy Taylor, Deputy Sheriff of Mayberry, Thelma Lou's main squeeze. Oh, did you also know that Barney is Andy's cousin and Godfather to Opie. Just think of how this knowledge could impress your friends ;)

Andy Griffith's character was intended initially to be the comedy man on the show. However, after Barney was introduced, he was so loved and caught on so well with viewers, that Andy decided for the good of the show to let Barney (Don Knotts) carry the comedy while he (Andy) took the role of the straight man.

Everyone needs an Aunt Bee

Francis Bavier (aka: Aunt Bee).
She cooks, she cleans, she is there for comfort in hard times, and somehow, she never seemed to complain and actually enjoyed it!
Let's admit, we could all use our very own Aunt Bee!

Often found in a good gossip session with her friend and neighbor Clara Edwards, Aunt Bee knew all of the goings-ons of Mayberry USA.

"I need to get out of the house more often." --Aunt Bee

Love this lense. I met Don Knotts at a mall sutograph signing about 10 years ago. I sent Howard Morris a trading card to sign and he signed it Earnest T. Bass, not Howard Morris. Also have a signed Hal Smith photo that he inscribed to a fan, but he died before he sent it.

If the world only moved as calmly and slowly as it did back in Mayberry, maybe it would be a better place...maybe
