The Anne of Green Gables series was written by Canadian author Lucy Maud Montgomery in 1908. One of my very favorite movies is "Anne of Green Gables" and the sequel "Anne of Avonlea", which you can order on DVD here and watch the movie clips at the bottom of this page.

Anne of Green GablesAnne is a lively eleven-year-old orphan who must win over the Cuthberts (Matthew and his sister Marilla) who have requested a boy from the orphanage to help Matthew with the farm chores. Anne's enthusiasm and determination are not always appreciated by those around her, but she learns from her experiences and never makes the same mistake twice. Into her teens, Anne continues to challenge the rules that try to curb her indomitable spirit, and she is rarely defeated.
