Thank you for the wonderful lens. I've been thinking of doing a lens on the Anne-girl, but I don't know that I could follow this one up nearly as well! I have not had the pleasure of going to PEI, but I have wanted to go since I was a little girl watching the movies and listening to my mother read these wonderful stories aloud with me.

We had a short visit to PEI last fall as a stop on a cruise ship. I loved it and would love to go back when I have more time to explore. Thanks for the great lens. Blessed.

What a wonderful lens on Lucy Maud Montgomery and Anne of Green Gables - a Canadian classic! I too was able to visit the home on PEI and it is so worth the trip. Blessed.

What a neat lens! It was good to learn about the author.
I love the movies and never get tired of them.

Megan Follows and Jonathan Crombie will ALWAYS be the best Anne Shirley and Gilbert Blythe ever in my mind. Colleen Dewhurst as Marilla and Schuyler Grant as Diana were excellent as those characters. I don't think ANYONE else can surpass them. They were the BEST!!! Those videos were wonderful - thank you.

Hi Brenda, I noticed you had several Anne of Green Gables-themed lenses and wanted to point somethng out to you. I had a WIP lens using the URL ending "anne-of-green-gables" but just couldn't get around to finishing it, so I deleted it. So, that URL is available if you want it :)

I have found many "kindred spirits" as Anne would say... over the years who love these stories as much as I do. The movies made for Wonderworks are better though... much much much much much better... just sayin! I didn't see links to those here, but maybe I just skimmed over them. GREAT TOPIC! A whole new generation can enjoy these.
  • Treasures-By-Brenda Sep 13, 2010 @ 6:23 pm | delete
The movies you referred to were fantastic. They were made in Canada and later aired on U.S. television as a 3-part presentation on PBS' Wonderworks.

Wonderful lens! I was always reading when I was a little girl, and I can't believe I have never read these! My dad gave the set to my daughter for Christmas last year, and your lens has really inspired me to get them out and start reading them! Thanks for sharing all the info!

I read all the books and watched Avonlea religiously. I honestly think the Avonlea TV series prompted the recent resurgence of the names Olivia and Abigail.

I *love* Lucy Maude Montgomery's books! I didn't discover them until my 30's but I enjoyed them all the same. Thanks for this lens.

I loved reading the Anne of Green Gables books but my favorite by far was the original. I understand that it was also Maud Montgomery's favorite.

What a terrific lens you created for Anne fans!! I read the first book many years ago, and then saw the video series made around 15 years ago. I enjoyed seeing them over and over with various young ladies. Even my husband liked them. :-) We all loved them so much, that one friend went to P.E.I. for her honeymoon!
5*, my faves & fan club too! :-) I'll be back to check out your links too.

I have learnt a few lessons from your masterly lens, Brenda. Good people, after all, are not rare. They, sure, are going to find you and your work. Best wishes!
