I live in the beautiful Southern Highlands area of New South Wales, Australia. I'm married with three children and I write historical fiction and contemporary novels and short stories. The areas I have set my books include both Yorkshire England and Australia. My passions are reading medieval novels, collecting Victorian diaries, roaming historical sites, buying books, going on picnics and gardening.

I am also an editor at a new small Canadian publishing company, Enspiren Press http://www.enspirenpress.com

  • Broken Hero

    WWII Romance by Anne Whitfield

Audrey Pearson's life changed dramatically when WWII broke out and her large home, Twelve Pines on the East Yorkshire coast, became a convalescence home for wounded soldiers. Her life is no longer lavish with entertainment, beautiful clothes and surrounded by a loving family. Soldiers, physically and mentally wounded now fill her home. The smell of disinfectant replaces her mother's perfume and gone are the friends and acquaintances - instead nurses roam the hallways. Captain Jake Harding, a doctor training in psychiatry arrives at Twelve Pines. Audrey immediately finds herself attracted to the Captain, but he is remote towards her. Puzzled by his cold behaviour, Audrey tries to learn more about the handsome Captain. He reveals that he's lost a wife and baby in childbirth and refuses to ever remarry. However, despite this, Audrey believes she can change his mind and make him aware he doesn't have to spend his life alone. The ice around Jake's heart begins to melt. For years he has rejected the possibility of finding love again because of the pain it caused him before, but the beautiful Audrey shows him her love and she needs someone to love her in return. Could he honestly walk away from her, from the love that could be his?

  • The Gentle Wind's Caress

    historical fiction

The Gentle Wind's Caress is my latest Victorian historical saga to be accepted for publication. It is set in Hebden Bridge, Heptonstall and surrounding areas of Calerdale, West Yorkshire, England.

    Blurb
1876 - On the death of her mother and sister, Isabelle Gibson must fend for herself and her brother in a privately-run workhouse. To escape a life of drudgery and near-rape at the hands of the matron's son, Neville Peacock, Isabelle agrees to marry Farrell, a moorland farmer she has never met. But Farrell is a drunkard and a bully in constant feud with his landlord, Ethan Harrington. When Farrell bungles a robbery and deserts her, Isabelle and Ethan are thrown together as she struggles to run the farm. Both are married and must hide their growing love. Despite the secrecy, Isabelle draws strength from Ethan and his best friend, Hamish MacGregor, as she faces the return of her long lost father and Neville Peacock. And when Farrell returns to claim his wife, tragedy strikes, changing all their lives forever.

  • Long Distance Love

    Contemporary Fiction paperback

This is my first novel length contemporary and I delighted in writing it, as it was such a departure from my historicals and my short stories.

The characters, Fleur and Patrick are so special. I loved them immediately. Also, the setting Whitby in North Yorkshire was a new location for me to write and was very rewarding too.

Long Distance Love is available from most online booksellers including Amazon and Barnes & Noble and at the Samhain Publishing website.

I hope you enjoy Long Distance Love as much as I enjoyed writing it.
