About Annie Lennox and Goddess Art
Several years ago I saw her on Saturday Live singing "Why". At the end of that performance she sang/said the lyrics, "You don't know me, you don't know how I feel." I just felt stunned by it. I could not move or even breath.. I have been a 'major' fan ever since that song. I was before but the emotion she projected that night was so profound, so unusual that as I said, my breath was taken away.
Isn't that what creativity is all about? Moving someones emotions? Making them feel something? I think yes.. and Annie Lennox moves me.

Here are the lyrics to "Why"
How many times do I have to try to tell you
That I'm sorry for the things I've done
But when I start to try to tell you
That's when you have to tell me
Hey, this kind of trouble's only just begun
I tell myself too many times
Why don't you ever learn to keep your big mouth shut
That's why it hurts so bad to hear the words
That keep on falling from your mouth
Falling from your mouth
Falling from your mouth
Tell me...
Why
Why
I may be mad
I may be blind
I may be viciously unkind
But I can still read what you're thinking
And I've heard it said too many times
That you'd be better off
Besides...
Why can't you see this boat is sinking
Let's go down to the water's edge
And we can cast away those doubts
Some things are better left unsaid
But they still turn me inside out
Turning inside out turning inside out
Tell me...
Why
Tell me...
Why
This is the book I never read
These are the words I never said
This is the path I'll never tread
These are the dreams I'll dream instead
This is the joy that's seldom spread
These are the tears...
The tears we shed
This is the fear
This is the dread
These are the contents of my head
And these are the years that we have spent
And this is what they represent
And this is how I feel
Do you know how I feel?
'Cause I don't think you know how I feel
I don't think you know what I feel
I don't think you know what I feel
You don't know what I feel

Annie Lennox Quotes
"Dying is easy, it's living that scares me to death.""Ask yourself: Have you been kind today? Make kindness your daily modus operandi and change your world."
"A lot of music you might listen to is pretty vapid, it doesn't always deal with our deeper issues. These are the things I'm interested in now, particularly at my age."
"When you're that successful, things have a momentum, and at a certain point you can't really tell whether you have created the momentum or it's creating you."

Do you think a song can change a persons attitude about something of importance?
Fetching blurbs now... please stand byYes

The very least it can do is enhance the attitude, and I believe it can change it.

Many's the time a song changed the way I thought. So yes, a song can change your attitude about just about anything.

I say yes, tentatively. I think it really depends on the artist and what people know them to stand for. Words have always been and will always be powerful, but it must come from the right person and it must have the right message.

I think if that does happen though it is because the spark for change is already there.

A fantastic tribute to an artist with great vision. There are only a handful of female vocalists that I really enjoy, and Annie has always fit in my palm.
Thanks!

This is a great lens, its good to see a well done Squid Who when there are so many people who use the cookie cutter, and this one is wonderful without the comparasion. ***** to you and Annie

Admittedly, I have not listened to much of her solo work, but I was definitely a fan of the Eurythmics. I grew up in the 80's, what can I say?
