Anthropology... The Study of Man and Culture
For the casual browser who may not be familiar with the term, the following is a definition of Anthropology as taken from Wikipedia:
"Anthropology (from Greek: anthropos, "human being"; -logia) is the study of humanity. Anthropology has origins in the natural sciences, humanities, and sciences. Ethnography is both one of its primary methods and the text that is written as a result of the practice of anthropology and its elements."
There are four main branches of anthropological study: physical anthropology, archaeology, linguistics (study of language), and cultural or social anthropology.
Anthropology is a fascinating field which helps us better understand humankind in the context of history. It also helps us explore other cultures and understand our similarities and differences.
This page is intended for use by students of the field as well as anyone with an interest in ancient history, the development of language, or comparative religion. I have presented what I hope will be a broad selection of books and DVDs aimed at both beginners or enthusiasts as well as more advanced students.
A portion of the proceeds from sales made via this page (by clicking through to the featured products on Amazon) will be donated to a humanitarian charity.
