Info on Vintage and Antique Singer machines is difficult to find

I am not into sewing in any shape or fashion, but my husband has found many vintage and antique sewing machines for us to sell.  From my experience Singer is probably the premier brand in sewing machines and they have been manufacturing them since 1851, so I'd say they are the most collectible also.

I have gathered many useful links for you to find info about your vintage or antique Singer sewing machine.

Why Are Antique Singer Sewing Machines So Collectible?

The obvious answer to my question, is they are old. Singers were built to last and if you are lucky there are still some around from the 1800's.

Another reason behind the collectability of old Singers is the nostalgia behind them. Sewing is a dying art in our society because we are all so used to getting what we want right now. Antique Singers bring back many memories of when our mother or grandmother used to sew for our families. Just looking through the comments left by many of the visitors that have stopped by tells me that these old sewing machines bring back memories.

Helpful links about antique and vintage Singer machines

There are three links on the page of Singer serial numbers, the 1st one contains the oldest ones. If my gut feeling is correct, the models worth the most money would be the ones that have the least amount of serial numbers in the range.

You can tell the age, model number and even where the machine you have is manufactured by the unique serial number on your machine. This like is where you can look up the info.
