Buying & Identifying Quality Vintage Jewelry

Jewelry is a matter of taste. But, vintage is always better quality, craftsmanship, materials and
is less expensive than it's 21st century equivalent.
Designer names past or present add value to any piece of jewelry. Provenace from a particular estate is especially valuable.
But, bottom line, is quality of the stones & setting used. From vintage designer costume jewelry to Tiffany platinum.
Collect & purchase the best you can afford from a reputable seller who has years of experience & knowledge with quality vintage jewelry & do your home work researching long gone designers & their works of art. Most of all enjoy your jewelry everyday & as the seasons change.

Colored Diamonds

Rare Large Great Investment

type=textThe world's most expensive diamond per carat just sold at Sotheby's in Geneva for $1.33 million a carat. It is a vivid blue 3.7 carat oval stone. During the same week, Christie's sold the world's most expensive blue-colored diamond. It is a 13.4 carat "fancy intense blue diamond" that brought $8.9 million. The most expensive white diamond sold at auction in 2007 for $16.2 million. The 84.37 carat stone was named Chloe. There are several other very large diamonds that claim the title of most expensive but they have not sold at auction in recent years. The most famous diamond we remember is the Taylor-Burton 69.42 carat stone that Elizabeth Taylor sold in 1978, after her second divorce from Richard Burton, for a reported $5 million.

The Crown Jewels

1 of many magnificent crowns

The Royals around the world have the most magnificent collections of jewelry passed down for centuries.
The British Crown Jewels have been kept in the Tower of London since 1303, protected by armed guards and never leave their location.
The Crown Jewels, which are part of the Royal Collection, are displayed to millions of visitors every year, guarded by Yeomen Warders ('Beefeaters') in the Tower of London. The Jewel House at the Tower has been used for the secure storage of the precious ceremonial objects, commonly known as the 'Crown Jewels', since the early 14th century, when Westminster Abbey (the alternative store) was found to be unsafe. Although attempts have been made to steal the Crown Jewels from the Tower, notably by Colonel Blood in 1671, none have succeeded. The present display of the Crown Jewels was opened by Her Majesty The Queen in 1994.
