Update: Are Our Pet Birds Safe?

Though thousands of pet owners and veterinarians have reported pet deaths as a direct result of the wheat gluten and corn gluten poisoning, officially only 200 deaths were acknowledge by the company, leaving thousands of pet owners with sky rocketed vet bills for pets who sadly died before treatment was completed. This is an outrage!

ANOTHER RECALL! SEPTEMBER 12, 2008!

We thought it was over, but it's not. Dog and Cat Food is once again being recalled, deaths have already been reported!

Please note this one involves a possible bacterial infection with Salmonella which can be passed on to humans. In other words it's not just your pets in danger... it's you too!

See the list of recalled food here: http://www.petcare.mars.com/

Are Humans Who Eat Chicken Next?

first the wheat

now the rice and corn! is nothing safe?

scary thing is, corn is used as the base for most pelleted bird foods I've already lost 5 cats to this contamination, I have over 200 pet birds, well they be in danger now too?

My family has been raising farm birds for over 300 years. The base product for Poultry Layer Pellets is CORN GLUTEN used to raise the protein levels. This brings to question:

Are our birds safe?

What about our eggs? The quality of eggs is based on what the bird eats. A hen eats fish, you get fish flavored eggs. A hen eats onions you get onion flavored eggs. On our farm we get unique chive flavored eggs after the hens have been out eating in the chive patch.  We free range, we get strange eggs as a result.

Now I'm a vegan, my hens are pets, but what about the rest of you who eat chicken?  When it comes to chicken, you really are what you eat.

In PNG there are wild hens that eat poison berries, the poison does not effect the hen, but is deadly to anyone that eats the hen. You see the poison gets into the hen's bloodstream, soaks into the flesh, and when a human comes along and kills it and cooks it, that poison is saturated into the flesh. It doesn't take much poisoned chicken flesh to kill a grown man.

Skip ahead to today. The main ingredient that is feed to the hens that are killed and sold to super markets and fast food restaurant, is now on the list of the latest pet food recall: Corn Gluten.

Has the contaminated corn gluten found it's way into the Layer Pellets or Grower Pellets? If so, will super markets be selling eggs and roast chicken ala rat poison? We don't eat cats and dogs, so humans have not been made sick by the recall, but how many of you eat chicken? How long will it be before the first human death comes?

Maybe they haven't contaminated the bird food,  but what if they have? We know now that the dog and cat food isn't safe.  Where well it all end?

Insider Tip Says Corn Gluten and Rice Gluten May Also Contain MelamineApril 18th, 2007 · 1 Comment

Breaking, breaking news… A top holistic brand, Natural Balance, just voluntarily recalled four products and confirmed that they found melamine in a US-supplied rice gluten. I'm guessing corn, wheat, and rice gluten providers have long known a "dirty industry secret" of making protein content appear higher and just finally got caught.

From November 2006 through August 2007, reports of dog and cat sickness and deaths rolled in from all across the globe. Our own family lost 5 cats to the cat food poisoning.

Did you have a cat or dog hospitalized and/or die from this massive world-wide pet food recall?

Jolie_makes_homemade_dog_food

This happened a year ago but still, it is scary to read about it. I recommend homemade dog food. It's much safer to know what's in the food you give your dogs.
Thanks for the reminder!

I like Lord Sesshomaru...

... a lot...

...I bet you noticed.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
0.O
I love designing my own clothes, and clothes for my dolls, and hope to one day have a fashion/costume shop in Portland, Maine. There are no Gothic or Lolita or CosPlay or LARPing stores around here, I want to change that.
My clothen style includes velvet, capes, empire gowns, gowns with trains, burnoose, shawls, runas, fishnet hose, striped stockings, combat boots, velvet, top-hats, long dresses, ruffled frilly skirts, cosplay, Gothic, Lolita, Victorian, Edwardian, velvet, frock coats, Alice in Wonderland, vampire fashions, Medieval fashions, crinolines & petticoats, eyelash-fringe fabric, sequins, beads, glitter, lace, cloaks, ruffles, broomstick skirts, stripes, plaid, poet blouses, peasant dresses, fairy tale princess gowns, faerie outfits, wizard-look stuff, big hats, bright colored hats, ballet flats, platforms, anything that Dracula would love to wear, and stuff like worn by Jem*, The Holograms, and The Misfits.
I wear full kimono (layered) after Momoyama styling, more often than I wear anything else. If you are ever in Maine and you see a girl walking around in full kimono or looking like she just walked out of a comic book, than that's me.
I love all things Japanese, esp the cloths from Medieval Japan. I am currently in the process of recreating the outfits worn by the characters of InuYasha, eventually, my entire wardrobe will be switched over to just those and I will wear nothing else.
No I am not wearing a costume. Yes, I really do dress like this EVERY day. No, I do not own any "normal" street cloths. I'm a life actor, that means I dress in CosPlay 24 hors a day, 7 days a week, 12 month of the year, and yes, I have been dressing like this for more than 25 years now.
Yes, I REALLY am making a historical reproduction of Lord Sesshomaru's costume, and yes, I do intend to wear it as part of my daily street cloths, fluffy tail, battle armor, and all.
I am owner of The Twighlight Manor Press and Copper Cockeral Cards & Gifts .
On the internet, I am know as EelKat, my alter-ego, the talking black bobcat from Planet Diona (a character from both my The Twighlight Manor series & The Planet Ptarmargin series, as well as The Chrystonite Chronicles).
In alphabetical order: I like Alan Rickman, Alice Cooper, Alice in Wonderland, anime, birds, candy, Carl Barks, cartoons, cats, C*C*DeVille, Colombo, comic books, CosPlay, Darkwing Duck, David Bowie, Disney, dogs, Don Rosa, Donald Duck, Dr. Who, dvds, eels, Etiole, fashion, Gothic, haunted houses, horror, ice cream, InuYasha, Jack Sparrow, Johnny Depp, Kieth Laumer, manga, movies, NegaDuck, peacocks, pigeons, Lord Sesshomaru, Prof. Snape, Retief, roosters, sci-fi, Scrooge McDuck, Sir Roderic, Star Trek, Tom Baker, Twighlight Manor, Uncle Scrooge, video games, Vincent Price, Willy Wonka, writing, X-Files, Xena, Zorro.
I am the creator and Administrator of A Writer's Desk, the forum for writers.
I love cats, dogs, roosters, birds, and esp. eels. (Have or have had pets of all of the above.)
