Keeping it in Perspective
About the Diamondbacks
The Arizona Diamondbacks ownership wanted to market them to a statewide fan base, and not limit their appeal to Phoenix. While teams typically get fans from outside their immediate area, the decision was still made to name the team the Arizona Diamondbacks versus the Phoenix Diamondbacks to give the name a larger market.
In their 2nd Season, the Diamondbacks won 100 games and clinched the National League West. In 2004, the team had a terrible record of 51-111 (the worst in 100 years of major league baseball).
In 2006, the team changed their uniforms for the 2007 season and many new people were added to the organization. The Diamondbacks in the regular season posted the best record in the NL with 90 wins and 72 losses. On September 28, the Diamondbacks beat the Colorado Rockies to secure a position in the 2007 playoffs.
