Fitness Marketing Tips For The Personal Trainer
To start off, your own likable personality and positive outlook are your greatest attributes. These qualities go a long way toward getting your foot in the door. You must create a very positive impression of yourself as honest and approachable. If someone doesn't feel comfortable around you, the odds of them training with you on a regular basis are very slim. A great way to meet new clients is to put yourself out there.
Hang out in the gym, tennis courts, even golf courses, or anywhere else you think you may meet potential clients.
Of course talking only goes so far. Be sure to always bring business cards so you can give them out anywhere and anytime. A killer business card gives you the opportunity to show that you are professional. Producing your own business cards at home just won't be enough. Spend the couple extra dollars for quality cards.
Ever think about why many people (like Real Estate Agents) have their photo on their business card?
They know that if someone sees their face they're more likely to keep the card. So have you're mug shot taken and place it on your card.
A good way to separate yourself from all the other trainers is to promote what makes you a unique trainer.
What do you do well?
Just announcing that you're a personal trainer doesn't necessarily tell people what you have to offer. Are you an expert in pre/post natal exercise? Do you focus on training competitive athletes? Do you favor training beginners? Knowing which market you cater to allows you to figure out how to market yourself and distinguishes you from the other trainers.
These days people love free stuff. Attracting more people into your fitness business can be helped along by giving out free assessments or sessions to clients who can refer as many friends as they can. The evaluation allows you to show the prospective client why they need you as a trainer. This is a great chance to exhibit your great people skills and use them to get the client.
New clients mean more money which you can then set aside some of it for fitness marketing. Weekly community newspapers often give cheap rates for smaller ads. It can help you to promote yourself to the widest market possible and at the same time, fill up the other time slots.
Following these simple, effective and yet economical tips will swell your schedule with training sessions. Putting in the effort now will lead to a regular client patronage and financial freedom to come.

- I like the advice about having professional marketing materials to hand out. If you are going to ask for $100+ per session, then you must come across as professional. Spend some money, and get professional fitness trainer materials produced.

- I think this is the department where I really lack. MARKETING. I think personal trainers really tend to overlook this aspect. We tend to get engrossed with our fitness skills and programs, thinking it's enough to get the word out. Great wake up call for me here.
