I use most of the POD sites you have described here. What I am interested in finding is a POD site that does NOT include their logo on the finished product, so that I can order my own art postcards and offer them on other sites. Anyone know of any good ones out there?
  • LakeEffects May 21, 2012 @ 7:04 pm | delete
I don't know about the others, but on Zazzle their logo is removable. You can replace it with your own or leave it blank. Their postcards are NOT standard size however.

Thank you! I'll have to figure out how to remove the logo. I wanted to order some of my own cards to see how they turned out.

Greetings, Great job, as usual, on putting together a meaty Squidoo on specific topic. I would like to suggest you add to it my www.ArtPrintIssues.com blog. It ranks, along with your Making a Mark blog, as one of the Top 75 Art Blogs on e www.invesp.com/blog-rank/Art. While I do dispense much useful information for any artists, the content also focuses on the art print market. With more than 400 art business related posts since 2007, the blog provides visual artists a wealth of marketing and business knowledge.

I am also the author of the definitive book on the art print market. "How to Profit from the Art Print Market" is in its second edition. It has been a top seller consistently ranked on the Amazon.com "Business of Art" and "Prints" categories since first published in 2005. Last year, I published an e-book, "How to Price Digital Fine Art Prints." It has the wisdom of ten art print and art marketing experts to help artists devise a profitable pricing strategy for their prints.

BooKBaby (http://bokkbaby.com) does really high quality print-on-demand art and photo books.

Yes - but it has very low traffic to the site see http://siteanalytics.compete.com/bookbaby.com/

Not sure this is enough to take this site seriously - I get more visitors to my blog!

Another excellent and useful resource for artists. Wow! I'm very impressed. I'm using CreateSpace.com for publishing books. Their distribution -- mostly through Amazon -- is very good.

Great lens! I love both redbubble & zazzle. Zazzle has a huge range of products to adapt your artwork on. The quality of the t-shirts at redbubble so far are a hit, but you can't brand yourself as much as on zazzle. Fo me the community at both have been an inspiration. It is a exciting time to be an artist and designer opportunity is becoming easier if you can work on your marketing.

What a lot of useful info gathered in one place. I've checked into most of the art PODs and have ended up concentrating on Zazzle for now. They have added some great new products over the past year although some of the introductions have been bumpy. The forums are pretty darn helpful for learning and communicating.

I am off to read your various posts about Imagekind (that was what drive me to this page: infos about that site). I want to sell prints of my photos, nothing else (for everything else I use zazzle). I want a shop dedicated to photos only. Imagekind keep popping in search, but need to read a bit before deciding.

Very informative lens! I'm thinking seriously of using a print on demand site (before your lens I wasn't even sure what it was called) and needed some reviews and ideas before I chose one. Your lens was very helpful to me, thank you. I would like to sell some full color, good quality prints as reasonably priced as possible without losing my rights to my art.
  • makingamark May 10, 2011 @ 8:15 am | delete
You have a fair few options. You needn't worry about losing your rights however it does pay to check
    1) the terms and conditions of the site - these can change and it's always good to look at what they say about how they can use your images for the purposes of marketing the host site
    2) connected member forums to see if people are concerned in any way about how their art gets used for promotional purposes.
    3) what type of protection is used in terms of displaying images on the website eg does it get overlayed with a copyright notice

Fantastic resource, we use Zazzle, Lulu and a few others. Each has it's benefits but Zazzle is the one we use most. Great lens for anyone looking for print on demand information.

Really nice lens full of very handy information. I have used blurb.com for a book that has over 70 photos and was very pleased with the results. I am going to check out some of your other links now - thanks again.

I'm curious as to why Fine Art America doesn't appear here (or on many blogs talking about POD art). Isn't their offering quite similar to that of Imagekind and Red Bubble? Any insight?

    Thanks!

Very informative lens. I've been researching on-line printers as well, looking for the ability to create cards and calendars without having to purchase hundreds. I've had no sales on RedBubble or Imagekind but I'm not active on them.

Excellent resource lens Katherine. Appreciate the traffic comparison charts very much and I've lensrolled this to my "Making T Shirts" lens. Nice.

Great blog, thanks for the info! :-)
I am looking for an alternative to CafePress as I do not like their latest moves, but neither do I like Zazzle for several reasons ...
(my main is greeting cards) ... food for thought ...
    Keep up the great info!
