Art for Cancer Group

The mission and purpose of this lens is to get the word out about The Art for Cancer Group. We are a group of global artists who have united to help in the fight against cancer. We donate a portion of our art sales to various cancer charities. We are artists united in the cause to stamp out cancer! Our artwork is available as Fine Art Reproductions in the form of prints, canvas prints, framed prints and greeting cards at Art for Cancer Group at ImageKind.

Art for Cancer 

History and Background

The Art for Cancer Group (AFC) is the creation and vision of artist Cid Palacio. Cid together with her creative co-partner Dorit Fuhg have brought the group along to it's present status. AFC was first established in February 2009 with a flagship group of artists at ImageKind. Today, there are over 300 members throughout various online sites and the artists have donated over 1000 pieces of art- with a percentage of sales designated to support cancer charity.

Cancer was the impetus for Cid's journey into the art world. Initially it was a way for her to escape the cruel reality that her mom had been diagnosed with terminal cancer. It then became a passion and an obsession.

Cid's vision of uniting global artists to fight cancer is a reality. The members of the Art for Cancer Group (AFC) donate the proceeds from the sale of their art to various cancer charities around the world. Donations vary from 10% to 100% on selected artwork. Some artists have elected to donate a smaller percentage and have contributed many pieces while others have elected to donate a larger percentage and fewer pieces.

The digital artwork you see above is by Cid Palacio and is called Flowers for Mom. She created this piece in honor of her mother after she lost her courageous battle with cancer in June 2009. This piece may be purchased at Imagekind. 100% of the net sales from this image donated to the Canadian Cancer Society.

Featured Artists for December 

Wonderful art happening at AFC for the Holidays!

This festive piece is by Bob Hess. The artist writes about this piece, "Nothing fancy, just having fun, this is a picture of my wife laura during our trip to Frankenmuth, MI Christmas town. - 25% of the proceeds of each sale will be donated to the Zoe Bergen Childhood Cancer Foundation."

 

This inspiring image is by Stacy Zimmerman. The artist writes about her work, "A print from my original acrylic painting. Simple and refreshing color. 50 % of sales goes to The Cancer Research Institute!"

 

This stunning fantasy art is called 'Castle of Sir Lancelot created by Marja Sterenborg. 100% of proceeds from the sale of this work will be donated to Cancer Research.

 

This lovely piece is called 'Steely Heart' and was created by Linda Galok. 100% of the proceeds from the sale of this piece will be donated to the American Cancer Society.

 

This outstanding digital art is called 'Celestial Pilgrim' and was created by RC deWinter. The artist says about this piece, "A beautifully-jeweled butterfly visits Earth from another world. Digital painting from an original photograph shot in November 2009 while riding in a car. I had to wait 'til we went under an overpass to catch the right lighting...LOL! - 25% of all sales of this picture will be donated to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation."

Breast Cancer Awareness Artists 

October is 'Breat Cancer Awareness' month. Each of our featured artists have a pink theme to their work and are donating 100% of the proceeds from the sale of the piece to breast cancer research.

This lovely photograph is called 'Petal for the Cure'. It was created by Amelia Whitfield. 100% of the proceeds from the sale of this work will be donated to Breast Cancer Research. This piece may be purchased from ImageKind in the Art for Cancer Group.

 

This unusual piece is called 'Pink Monday'. It was created by Sue Molyneaux.

From the artist: As a cancer survivor, I know what Mondays can be like: the day the treatment begins again, the day the weekend respite is over. It lead to a few "blue Mondays." But it also lead to many more Pink Mondays, days when you woke up and the fight was on, the battle was blazing and you were rested and ready to go.

Pink Monday captures the intensity of that emotional battle, the determination to win, with its different shades of pink, the purity of white, the darkness of black, the intermittent grey. Painted on a Monday, Pink Monday projects the will to fight, and win. 100% of the proceeds from the sale of this artwork will be donated to Gilda's Club of Toronto.

 

This bold piece is fittingly called 'Screw Cancer'. It was created by Nan Wright. 100% of the proceeds from the sale of this work will be donated to Breast Cancer Research. This work may be purchased from ImageKind in the Art For Cancer Group.

 

This very colorful and hopeful piece is called 'Anderson'. It was created by Win Charles. 100% of the proceeds from the sale of this work will be donated to Breast Cancer Research. The art may be purchased at ImageKind in the Art for Cancer Group.

Breast Cancer Awareness Video 

All the stunning artwork you see here created by AFC members has a pink theme in honor of October, which is 'Breast Cancer Awareness' month. 100% of the proceeds of the sale of any of this artwork will be donated by the artist to Breast Cancer Research.

Mario Lemieux Foundation
The Mario Lemieux Foundation was created in 1993 by hockey legend Mario Lemieux. In that year, Mario was enjoying the greatest season of his brilliant career and on pace to establish a new NHL scoring record. Then he was diagnosed with Hodgkin's disease.
After a successful battle with Hodgkin's, Mario is now twelve years cancer free and his experience led him to focus on ways to assist those not so fortunate. He devotes much of his time to the Foundation raising funds to help reach the ultimate goal: a cure for cancer.
McCarthy Cancer Foundation
The McCarty Cancer Foundation was created by NHL star Darren McCarty of the Calgary Flames and formerly of the Detroit Red Wings. Both of my parents and my husband were taken by this horrible disease, most of my Aunts and Uncles and Grandparents were also taken by cancer. With a history like this...well, my sisters and I feel that it will be our fate also. My wish is that our children will not have that same fate.

I still believe in miracles!
