What caught my eye was the Environmental Blogger shirts, I love them!

OSLO, Norway - Former Vice President Al Gore and the U.N.'s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change won the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize Friday for their efforts to spread awareness of man-made climate change and lay the foundations for counteracting it.
"I am deeply honored to receive the Nobel Peace Prize," Gore said in a statement. "We face a true planetary emergency. The climate crisis is not a political issue, it is a moral and spiritual challenge to all of humanity."
Gore won an Academy Award this year for his film "An Inconvenient Truth," a documentary on global warming, and had been widely expected to win the prize.

"His strong commitment, reflected in political activity, lectures, films and books, has strengthened the struggle against climate change," the citation said. "He is probably the single individual who has done most to create greater worldwide understanding of the measures that need to be adopted."
It cited Gore's awareness at an early stage "of the climatic challenges the world is facing.

The committee also cited the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change for two decades of scientific reports that have "created an ever-broader informed consensus about the connection between human activities and global warming."

The IPCC groups 2,500 researchers from more than 130 nations and issued reports this year blaming human activities for climate changes ranging from more heat waves to floods. It was set up in 1988 by the United Nations to help guide governments.
Climate change has moved high on the international agenda this year. The U.N. climate panel has been releasing reports, talks on a replacement for the 1997 Kyoto Protocol on climate are set to resume and on Europe's northern fringe, where the awards committee works, there is growing concern about the melting Arctic.
The Norwegian Nobel Committee said global warming "may induce large-scale migration and lead to greater competition for the Earth's resources. Such changes will place particularly heavy burdens on the world's most vulnerable countries. There may be increased danger of violent conflicts and wars, within and between states."
Gore said he would donate his share of the $1.5 million that accompanies the prize to the Alliance for Climate Protection, a non-profit organization devoted to conveying the urgency of solving the climate crisis.

Ole Danbolt Mjoes, chairman of the prize committee, said the award should not be seen as singling out the Bush administration for criticism.
"A peace prize is never a criticism of anything. A peace prize is a positive message and support to all those champions of peace in the world."
Bush abandoned the Kyoto Protocol because he said it would harm the U.S. economy and because it did not require immediate cuts by countries like China and India. The treaty aimed to put the biggest burden on the richest nations that contributed the most carbon emissions.

The U.S. Senate voted against mandatory carbon reductions before the Kyoto negotiations were completed. The treaty was never presented to the Senate for ratification by the Clinton administration.
"Al Gore has fought the environment battle even as vice president," Mjoes said. "Many did not listen ... but he carried on."

I think it's great! Above everyone he has headed the campaign to bring global awareness to the masses. Pro or con, most people are now conscience of the global situation because of his efforts and I think he is the reason many people are taking the steps to living a greener life.

It's been a busy summer and it's time to say goodbye. It's been a great summer! Personally, I achieved many things and have grown as a person. Business has been really good and I'm looking forward to a great holiday shopping season.

With my room mates we have gotten a lot done outside. We worked our butts off and it really looks nice.

I wanted to post one last 'end of summer' photo. . I enjoy the fall season, but I don't care for winter much, lol. Lets hope winter is short lived!

I'm giving another plug for the Going Green Gifts shop. I ordered the South Dakota series of round magnets. There is an Organic South Dakota design I have yet to pick up but I thought I'd post a photo of the magnets I have. They turned out great! Very colorful and I love the message!

The first week of September has passed and I can't believe how fast summer went! I live in the Midwest and its beginning to get colder every as the nights pass and I'm not really looking forward to winter.

I love fall. The changing colors of the leaves, the coolness..but now that I'm older I really don't care for winter. Too Cold. I can't get out and work on the land, plant trees, mow the grass..none of that.

It was a great summer though! We got a lot done and I look forward to next spring when we can start all over again! For now I'll just enjoy the rest of the nice weather! :)

I found another environmental shop that I love! Think Green Gifts has wonderful environmental type seal designs in all 50 U.S. States! They have a frog, recycle and a tree version. I noticed a special edition polar bear version, also in fifty state versions!

I think this is a great way to get out the message of global warming! I bought my home state version!

My roommate found a tree growing out in the yard the other day and I seen for the first time the beginning life of a walnut tree. I admit if I had been mowing I wouldn't have noticed it. So before he transplanted it to a large container for safe keeping I took a few photos. He'll let it mature more before finding a place on the land for it.

We've all been working hard on clearing the land in the back of the property. It's looking better everyday and is good exercise, for the body and the mind.

It's over grown with weeds, grass, small trees and tons of things like old fences, wire, barrels, wood and the things you'd find on an old farm.

There's a large tree near the center that suffered heavy damage during a storm(tornado I think) from a few years back. This was a BIG tree...grand, had to be beautiful..every time I had seen it I thought about it in it's glory days..

It had a lot of damage, it was dead. As we worked our way back to it we knew it'd be a task to get it cut up. We cut up a great deal for firewood and stacked it by the barn. It got down to the massive trunk...what to do.

We decided to cut it up and use the once grand tree for tree stump seats!(4th Photo) We got six good sized sections out and after cleaning up the surrounding area the roomie placed the new tree seats around the old stump. A Nature Council:)

He threw out some grass seed and watered the area down. It's been really dry here so I hope it takes.

I love it. The whole area will be a great place to relax..meditate..just be. There are smaller trees to cut down, also damaged in the same big storm. Two were cut today, one about 4 feet high the other close to 6 feet high. The plan is to put bird feeders/waterer's on the shorter ones to due other animals, and the taller ones birdhouse, hopefully being higher and a little more safer. A great way to bring the bird friends back to these trees.

As I sat today think about the work that had been done I thought about these two trees. The new tree and the old tree. My roommate estimates the old tree to be about 60 years old. New life in the little walnut and a rebirth for an old, grand tree that most people wouldn't have cared about. And old tree that might have been cut down and forgotten is now the center of activity, a focal point.

I simply love that.

I am a tree hugger..and I love tree hugger designs. I have several different types of designs in the nature wear shop. The latest is a group tree hugger. I've seen many designs that cater to a single tree hugger, but none that would entice a group feeling. So I created this Group Hug version for tree hugger in all of us!
