So who are the Braves?
The Atlanta Braves are members of the Eastern Division of Major Baseball League. Since 1997. the Braves have played in Turner Field. The Braves were originally founded in Boston Massachusetts (1869) and today they are one of the only two remaining original baseball teams of the National League. Prior to moving to Atlanta (1966), not only did the Braves play in Boston, but they also played in Milwaukee (1953 as the Milwaukee Braves). They are the only team to have ever one three World Series in 3 different HOME cities.
The team is of course best known for Hank Aaron who held the Major League Baseball for career home runs from 1974 until it was broken in 2007 by Barry Bonds.
The Braves won 3 World Series - 1914, 1957 and 1995. They have also won 17 National League Pennants (the first in 1877 and the last being in 1999, 4 National Association Pennants, 11 Eastern Division Titles and 5 West Division Titles.
The 2007 Season
The Braves could not keep up this pace however, dropping four of their last five games, eliminating themselves from contention in the series. The Braves used the late season to raise young prospect DE Brandon Jones, a possible replacement for outfielder Andruw Jones, whose contract expired in 2007, and whos batting statistics plummeted in 2007. The Braves final participation of the season was on September 30 and the Braves lost to the Houston Astros, 3-0. It was also the Braves last Thursday broadcast nationally by TBS, which ended more than 30 years of nationally televised Atlanta Braves baseball .
