Visiting Atlantic Canada

Ranked #6,594 in Travel & Places, #181,343 overall

Let's go Explore Atlantic Canada!

Read about our vacation to Atlantic Canada...In 1998 my husband and I (not yet married) toured Atlantic Canada together our small, over packed Honda Civic hatchback with our miniature dachshund curled up on her bed on the front floor of the car and all our camping gear in the back. Our goal was to make it all the way to my husband's home town of St. John's, Newfoundland but time wasn't on our side. With 1 week of vacation each, our car packed and dog in tow off we went! First visiting New Brunswick then on through to Nova Scotia, we camped at the edge of the Atlantic Ocean in Prince Edward Island and had just enough time to turn around and head back home to Ontario before work the next week.
On my bucket list: To see and visit my husband's home town of St. John's, Newfoundland.

New Brunswick

Have you been to Magnetic Hill?

Be sure to visit Shediac, New Brunswick ...home of the worlds largest lobster! A great place to stop and pick up postcards & saltwater taffy! If you're in Miramachie you MUST visit "Magnetic Hill"...it's hilarious! We did it 3 times and laughed our heads off! Do NOT miss Hopewell Cape...the Hopewell Rocks are stunning...and there's a surreal feeling to "walking on the ocean floor"...it's incredible! I highly recommend that over anything else!

Prince Edward Island

...so much to offer!

We camped 50 meters from the Atlantic Ocean...in Linkletter, PEI. If you've crossed over into PEI be prepared to pay the toll fee to leave via The Confederation Bridge...in 1998 it was $35.50! Ouch!...that was more than our souvenirs.

This trip we did not see The Anne of Green Gables house, unlike when my parents and I made the trip in the 70's.
