Moving to another city or town?

Last year I moved from Sydney to Melbourne for a fantastic new job, the change was very difficult for me as I was born and bred in Sydney, I love the city, my friends, family and not to mention a few ex-boyfriends ;-) were all there. I knew no one at all. A friend suggested using a personals site to get a few contacts together before I left... I stupidly ignored her advice, thinking that I could always just go out with the people I met at work and start from there.. Being in advertising this is usually quite simple thing to do, most people in this business are very sociable types!
A few weeks after this, I found that although meeting people through work was going ok, I realised it's very important to make friends that have no ties to work. I felt kinda stupid because that's obvious, right?! Well not to me, having stayed in the same city my whole life you don't always think of things like that! Anyway, after some searching I created a profile on HeartChaser - Australian Dating a very Aussie focused personals site.
Within a few weeks of chatting, mailing, receiving lots of kisses :-D etc my social network exploded and met people from all over Melbourne from different walks of life, even met some people who are now I am very close with... ahhhh
